how many of you guys sent rims out or any other billet aluminum out to have it chromed???and upon doin so did you run into any issues,..the reason i ask is my buddy sent both rims, triple trees, forward controls and lotsa other stuff out to get chromed, when he got it back, the forward control chrome had allready flaked off,the triple tree chrome had a stress crack in it and the rim had allready also chipped....i have read in time that chroming billet aluminum is not one of the best substrates to find adhesion to when doing this process....no matter how i polish my shit..it might get shinier, but somehow someway it allways seems scratchier...whats a guy to do?????? have you guys had luck with the chroming process????????

My BD dealer in San Diego had a chrome exchange. Within the first year of owning my 05 I had the triple trees, speedo bucket and bracket, clutch cable clamps, axle covers shift rod, fender braces, and lots more done. Over four years now and it's all in great shape.
Can't say that for the stock chrome rockers, primary and fork legs.

But guess it all depends on who you use for a chromer.

I agree with Ray. I also got my wheels chromed when stationed in SoCal by same dealership. I believe they used Meclec and I haven't had any issues with my chrome since it was done.

Chroming is like painting, the key to a good long-lasting finish is in the prep-work....:2thumbs:

I sent 65 pieces to Meclec and I could not find not one thing wrong with any of my pieces. The did a great job and the turn around was great. Now all of my pieces were almost mint with the normal wear but I polished often to keep up with it. Now one thing that did happen is that a few pieces did come up missing , but they gave me no gripes at all and contacted me right away and purchased brand new parts and chromed then and sent them right out.

Coast Choppers of SDiego went out of business. I've heard some of the fellas on here have used Brown's but you ship them your parts and they chrome them for you.

Check some of Gasman's posts, I believe he used them and is really happy with the results.

I sent my front fender brackets to Chromemasters in Nashville,TN. This is where OCC sends some of their parts as well. Parts are on their way back as I type....Will provide a followup....

No, they went out of business as LDO stated.

Browns is a great company to send them to. My dealer up here in Washington State is starting a chrome exchange now with a lot of persistence from me! :D
