Been running Amsoil Severe Gear 85W90 in my HD transmission instead of the 20W50 motor oil. Big difference as well.

My latest hot bike issue had the spectro as one of the top gear oils as a must have. I have ridden only 3 days on it but so far i feel like it is much better. cant wait till my first oil change and see what it looks like afterwards.

I wonder if there's been any comparisons between it and Redline "Shockproof" (aka- the pink milkshake)? Redline's what I've used in the past and it's worked well in my Chopper, but I'm always open for improvements.

Roadking it was the April issue of V-Twin on page 94. Sorry I got the magazines mixed up I read so damn many of them. There is also an engine oil on page 94 I am going to try. It made by Lubetech call LAT. they put that in there top 10 also. Its a full SYN oil.

The one thing I have always liked about the redline fluid is that if you have a leak it was easy to figure out what was leaking. much easier than the old smell it tactic.

The spectro oil is a bright red color. I have never used the redline so i assume it is red also so it would be easy to see if yo have a leak there also.

Yeah I see it's red now. I have been reading that the redline heavy shockproof oil has a high amount of calcium in it which makes it so thick, and supposedly the calcium is really not a desired chemical with steel. But I guess it all depends who you talk too. Wonder whats a good way to flush out the redline out of the trans? At $17 t0 $20 a qt. for the spectro it better work.

Thanks D - I think I get all the bike mags EXCEPT V-Twin! :bang:
I'll check it out, if April's still on the newstand - sometime those guys get ahead of themselves by a couple issues.

amsoil extreme gear in the trans and the primary for me (I used to have redline in the trans) - I would also use Amsoil in the engine (I did once and prefer it to Mobil 1 although I have gone back to Mobil 1) but it costs me silly money. I did use spectro in the primary when I first got the Bandit in there.

During my 7,500 mile service i did the following:
Changed to Mobil 1 Synthetic
Put Red Line Synthetic Primary Oil in Primary
Stayed with Heavy Duty Shock Proof in the Tranny

I was a bit concerned about running the Red Line Synthetic in the Primary as it was really lightweight oil. I called and talked to a tech at Baker and they said NO PROBLEM with the Red Line Syntheetic in the primary, but commented about running the Spectro oil in the primary.

I can't say that I have noticed any difference good or bad with the Red Line. I may try the Spectro oil in the Primary at the 10,000 mile service.
