So with all this talk of getting the bikes cleaned up I started to do so myself. Well I had taken the front plug wire off of the plu and let it hand. I was trying some different ways of polishing the fins. That being said fast forward to yesterday. Nice day, i'm going for a ride. Try to start the bike. Turnin over and over would hit once in a while no luck. What the hell? Right. So I chill a bit . Hey im going to pop this motha. Roll it down the drive release the clutch pop pop stall. Shit! I'm still on a little decline so im pushing my ass off and give it a try again. Bam comes to life. Alright! Only hittn on one cylender. WTF! I get it back to the house and sittin on while misfireing bad. Start thinking maybe a comp release was stuck open. Go to feel then and see the plug wire. WOW am I feeliing like a big dope. Plug it in and runs great. Let the thing warm up and all is good still. Get out on the road and I realize I have no blinker or break lights. The tail lights are on but no blinky or breaky. I think Well maybe I had run the battery down turning it over so much. Finish the ride up and get it back on the tender and over night got the green ligt and try to start it this morning. Takes a little bit turning over like always but starts. Try the brakes and blinker and no dice homey. You think it is the weakened battery? I have no clue how old it is. I got the bike Summer before last .

Any issues with the lights prior to polishing the fins?

Are there any fault lites on the EHC?

Load test the battery and it might be a good idea to head down to the HD place for a new AGM.

Kinda what I thought. The horn and every thing else is good to go. I didn't have any prior problems.

Please bear with me here being that I'm a new guy still learning but...

If the bike is running and assuming the charging system works OK how can the light problems have anything to do with the battery?

One more thing.Isn't my EHC under the tank? Not that it is an issue just making sure.

Been a long time since I had my 03 Mastiff but I think your right about the location of the EHC. Still the battery is cheaper than having to replace the EHC for now.

Do the front blinkers work or are all of them dead? When you hit the blinker switch, does the blinker annuciator on the tach blink?

Battery certainly seems more likely but if not, I've got a buddy here in town with two 03 EHC's. Let me know if you need one.
They are the ones that look more like 4-5 separate plugs under the seat than what the current EHC's look like. Good Luck

OK, since no one liked my last stupid question I have another...

Did you have the seat, tank, or anything else off? Was the loose spark plug wire touching anything other than ground while the bike was running?

Have you gone back over everywhere you cleaned looking around for connectors that may have been taken off and not reinstalled properly or just got knocked loose during the cleaning?

I'm not going to say it isn't the battery but if there's plenty of power while it's running via the charging system I don't see how it could be.

I know when I work on something and it worked fine before I started and it's broke when I'm done I assume it's something I did then backtrack... :bang:

YMMV,

Sounds like you got water in the blinker circuit board. It's located in the throttle handle and is about 60 bucks.

Im sorry. I liked your stupid question. I really have no idea as far as the first question. I have not had anything else apart either to answer your last. I will go back and check all over just the same. Thanks for the input.

Actually I found out today that I have a broken stator housing. The part that is bolted to the crank on the shift side. That said the bike isn't charging correctly I think that is what it is called. But anyway I need to replace that and then start the process over again with things to check. Battery isn't charging right and that may be causing the lights and things to act up. New housing on my list. Went for a short ride today and runs fine but scarey without the brake lights. And may kill the battery. I will keep you all informed as the new stuff happens. Thanks DR.
