Put a volt meter on the battery. It needs 12.8 volts. Lights can come on but doesn't mean it will turn over.

Take extra juice up there where you are when it's 50 below....... The oil is like molassas! :whoop:

Here's something that worked for another member - REMOVE CLEAN AND RE-FASTEN THE TERMINALS. No don't laugh - please give it a shot.

I agree that you should check the terminal connections and make sure your battery is fully charged. Same thing happened to me when the bike came back from the shop after 2 weeks - good headlight but no cranking. Be careful not to rapid charge the battery if its cold (especially under 50 degrees) - otherwise bad things can happen to the cells. Also can't hurt to make sure your compression releases are not sticking by pushing them in manually....good luck

Three seasons on a battery is about all you can expect on that battery. As stated above you may have mutiple problems. I would recommend replacing the battery, (Interstate has a good one, 330 CCA) if that don't fix it pull your starter solieniod and clean up the contacts. The headlight thing is probably a bulb as stated above.

Hmmm, who could that be  ...thanks for your help Staffy. I had almost the exact same thing last week, and my battery is always on a tender. I checked my battery on the meter, and it read 100%. So I unscrewed my terminals, and refastened them tightly. I also pushed down on both compressors just before starting, and it finally roared. I live in NJ, so the cold weather doesn't help the situation. Good luck!

Dude,
I may be a little late but I have had probs with the regulator on my Dog so check that as well. Also from what the Mech has told me the 12.8 volts that you have is to low the Dogs run hotter than that, If I remember they have to run 13+ volts to run right.

Ride Hard Year Round.
