Got wires mixed up

Hey fellas quick question...under the tank there are two connections that are identical. Black and Green. I think they go to the starter, not sure. When I disassembled it I didn't mark it :bang: and now Im getting the infamous click, click, click issue with starting. I'm thinking I may have reconnected them wrong and it has been draining the battery? I have it on a charger now and will check it in a few but what do you guys think? Thanks.

Ok so charged the battery and she fired up right away:up: but since i just had my EHC replaced just a few weeks ago I want to make sure I don't do something to this new one. So, If anyone knows the my wiring dilema I would really appreciate any insight.

Im almost done with my winter project...(red neck front end, new(old) seat, powder coat, grips, etc. Just want to tie up some of these loose ends first before i post the pics and see what you guys think.

Thanks again. Absolutely love this forum. Ive learned so much in such a short amount of time from you guys. Salute to all:flag:

Those two identical connectors with the green and black wires are the compression release connectors not the starter.

Little-Boo, does it matter how they are connected?

So while running and taking it up to 2000 rpms the voltage had no change, just stayed right around 12.6V. I've read here that when you rev it up it is supposed to go up to 13-14V. Does it look like I need a new battery...any suggestions for a 08 Ridgeback?

No not to my knowledge, as long as they are connected you are good to go.

Keep an eye on your charging system, charge your battery overnight on a tender and if it continues to do that, then you charging system may be going bad. I don't know what your wiring dilemma has been so I really can't comment on that.

You mentioned that you replace with EHC, are you talking about the Wire Plus Module WP-374 or just a new EHC. If you it was just the ECH, try resetting you CB (Circuit Breaker) and see if that makes a change on the charging output. If it doesn’t, check that your VR is connected and that you did not leave that wire off when you reconnected the Battery. Lets just hope you don't need a new VR.

The dilemma was the green and black wires.

Tender says it is charged, all wires are connected, cb is not tripped...not sure how i can reset it?
Just a new EHC dealer replaced.

The CB is a little Gray two post distrubution box under the seat with a tiny black button on it. Push in on the black botton to reset the CB. The circuit runs from the VR to the CB to the Battery. I shit canned my CB and put a 40 amp fuse between the VR and battery. The 40 amp fuse does the same thing the CB did. The CB has been know to fail and fry you VR. In fact when BDM was having a VR issue they did the same thing as most all of us on here did, and that was to eliminate the CB and add a 40 amp fuse in its place. Your bike may aleady have a 40 amp fuse on there. New VR's were installed on bikes that were affected by the recall along with the 40 amp fuse which was the BDM fix for the VR recall Issue.

Wishfull thinking here but it could be that my CB is bad! No 40amp fuse. Any way to test it?

you can bypass it by connecting the battery side to the VR side of the breaker to see if it charges.

you can get a replacement at any auto parts store

MARV, don't mean to sound stupid here but does that mean touching the red and black wires that are bolted to the CB?

the CB is inline from the VR to the battery to guard from a spike from the VR.

you can test the CB with your volt meter by testing each side of it with the bike running.
