Energy One
Hey guys I was kind of wondering, would I be able to convert a pit front end into the more chop look by using the ridgeback frontend or no.Just kind of curious. Just some of the thoughts I have.

probably not without a new frame - the front of your frame would be up in the air

If it were still the 70's you could probably get away with it. But seriously you cant gain any length on your forks without raking the trees and the amount of rake you would need to accommodate a 12 over front end would be huge. And thats not even considering what the trail would be at. Your best bet to gain anything more than a inch or two in length would be to cut your neck off the frame and modify the frame so that you can get something like 46 to 50 deg of rake. Or get a new frame like lee said. Either way the bike will handle like a wet noodle afterwords.

and this shows the major importance of test riding all the bikes to see which one you like best BEFORE you sign on the line. don't go by price, don't go by what others say, don't go by first impressions of what you think looks cool. go by the seat of you pants and the smile on your face. i was lucky, i bought my K9 with only a motorcycle permit and was unable to test ride before buying, but in the long run it is what i want.

You would have to cut the frame and rake it out. K-9 would be too long even if you did this, I belive it's 12 over. Chopper front end is 10 over.... Good luck.

There's some thin skin...

Find out what your front end length/rake is now, and go shopping, there are a million options out there. What you can do is get raked trees to get more rake, and go a little longer on the fork tubes. Do a trail calculation to see where you will end up, but this should make your trail number bigger. My bike now is somewhere around 5", but I've ridden one with 8" and it's clumsy at low speeds but definitely manageable, and stable at high speeds. More is OK, less is pushing squirrely. I believe 4" is ideal for a cruiser, but sometimes you gotta sacrifice for cool. Do a google search for "trail calculator" for different methods to measure it. Also keep in mind that if you go with a springer, you can adjust it to pretty much any trail you want, but you can't rake the trees, so you'd have to cut the neck if you want more rake/length. Good luck and don't be afraid to change out from stock. Who wants to look like everyone else?

pitbull, this was not directed AT you , it was meant for the people on here who have not bought a bike yet. if you took it as an insult, oh well! if you've got a problem with that, KMA.

Ahh ok woodbutcher the way it sounded like you were being a smart a** and directing it towards me there for just wondering about it im not gonna do it,just curious if it could be done.I apologize for the miss conception there.
And MOSPEED I sure appreciate the info there, like I said I was just kind of wondering about it and if it had been done thanks for all the great info guys.

I know I am a little late on this one but I am facing the same ordeal so maybe we can bounce some stuff off each other..
I have a 05 Pitbull and I am putting a 5d rake tree with 8 over forks..
If that doesnt give me what I am looking for I will be cutting the neck off and adding rake...
These are your only 2 options I am aware of
