Neck Bearing Replacement

Can I just get a couple set of bearings for the neck from the local Harley shop. The number appears to be a Timken L44640. The upper race was really in bad shape compared to the lower one.
Are the Harley Swing arm bearings the same also?
I am changing out all the bearings anyway. One of the swing arm bearings were locked up too boot. Got all the wheel bearings to change out as well.
I will be removing the hubs from the wheels later today.
Doing my 10K service and complete winter clean up.
Going to look for a wheel grinder to put a buffing pad on so I can do all the aluminum pieces.

I just cross referenced the bearing numbers and race. Picked up all my bearings, races, seals at the local bearing supply. Used all timken bearings, and my front seals were James Gasket seals. All Balls sells complete wheel kits but my front seals were different. Do you have a race puller for the neck? I just used a small diameter cutoff wheel to cut through 90 % of it then just whacked it and it snapped. Just used some threaded rod and washers to install the races after they sat in the freezer for a couple hours.

I used a brass drift and knocked out the races already.
I will also make a threaded rod and washers to pull them in as you did and also in the rim hubs..
I have the inverted forks so I will have to see on the seals. One was just replaced earlier this year due to leaking at the dealership.

We have a bearing dealer out in the industrial park where I work. I am trying to see what I can swap out at a Harley dealership due to the availability of them all over the states.

Nice tear-down Neil! let us know how the HD store works out...
I will go Harley today. I did get the neck bearing and race at the big dog dealership due to having to go by and pick something else up.

The neck bearing is a Timken L44643. $10.50 each or the BDM number Neck Bearing #BDM130-00243 $10.99 ea

I am going to take a guess and say the race is a L44610 at $5.00 each or the BDM number Bearing Race #BDM130-00242 $5.00

The Harley shop also has the same Timken neck bearings. The bearing and race come as a package at $30 dollars a set.
Part number 48300-60.
I was told they could get them cheaper through the drag speciality catalog if a day or too did not matter.

The swing arm bearing is a F. K. Bearing COM12T-3R. $12.50 each

Bearings comes standard with snap ring and Teflon liner.

I just posted on your other thread but I have the same bearings but my races look like they are Timken L44610 but my bearings are the L44643 so don't know. I will tell you that the races are very hard to read.

Without hijacking this thread here is the link. I had one made also of my wife but haven't installed it yet. Best $20 you could spend.

Just scroll down on this link and see lots of options. Or he can do one special for you.
