[1] You could have a loose EHC interface connection....
[2] You have a loose connection feeding the engine crank sensor which feeds into you EFI Module as far as feedback to tell the coil to fire
[3] Your engine crank sensor died...or is breaking down when hot
It will turn over but not fire because it does not know when too...the EFI module is not getting any feedback
[4]You have a bad relay which feeds the fuel pump, coil and O2 sensors
Food for thought anyway...

#4 sounds like it covers the problems better than the rest.

Thanks at all for the help. I plan to write another thread to ask how to remove the one piece battery cover. I know to you experienced guys this sounds simple, but I've not done it and I don't want to screw up this nice looking piece. Thanks.

Most Likely Found My Problem! Yahoo!!!!!

Took my right side battery cover off (originally thought it was a one piece).

Tried to start the bike, but like before it would turn over and wouldn't fire off. Also, like before, heard the fuel pump having a very weak hum sound.
Wiggled EHC interface connector "B" and heard the fuel pump whine load as normal the the bike fired right up. WOW!!!!! Appeared the connector may have been loose and removed to check for corrosion.

Both sides of connector were clean and coated with diaelectric grease.

Added a little more diaelectric grease and replaced the connector and thighened both the "A" and "B" tie-down screws. Test started again and all appears normal. Will make a test ride soon to confirm. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix and the "ghost" interuption is gone. Thanks for all the help from the forum members.

Good New Whistler....see it ain't too hard to work on these things yourself! The EHC is the glass-jaw of these things though. I keep a big zip-tie around my EHC and the connector (only have on on the 2004) to maintain some pressure on the connection. May be worth a try....

Had prob with 07 efi. The computer would shut completely off if a short happened anywhere on the bike. 09 updates with the ehc won't shut down whole system. Big dog updated at biketoberfest, might be worth mentioning.

Thought I had the problem solved????

Well, fired it up this afternoon to take a test ride and the engine quit after a few minutes. Tried to restart with no luck. Same old symptoms, fuel pump makes a low hum sound and the plugs don't fire!!!! This is getting old. I thought I had solved the problem thinking it was a bag EHC interface connector, but appears I will now have to trailer it 120 miles to Strokers Dallas to see if they can determine what the problem is. From past experience, they don't seem to know much about electrical problems with these Dogs. Sorry to be negative on the forum, but my Big Dog experience is sad.

Curious, what part of east texas do you live in? I went to Stephen F. Austin Stat University and I have a few friends that live in Lufkin. Most likely will take my bike up that way this Spring or Summer because I go up that way every now and then to visit my buddies.

As far as you problem just make sure you write good notes down especially after they happen so that it is fresh in you hea with everything you experience with the problem. That way when you take it all the way back with that long drive you have. You can tell them everything that is going on and what you have done. If I was you your bike is under warranty and it is winter time just leave the bike with them for a while and let them fix what they think is wrong with it. The a couple of days later they can try it out again to make sure the bike is still not doing it. That way you don't have to keep making all those trips back and forth. I have the same bike as you 08 K-9 EFI but have not even had it for a month yet. Before you get too pissed about Big dog and won't ever buy one again. Just give them a chance to fix the problem and see if they take care of you or not. I havn't owned one long but I can say I love the look, feel and ride of the bike. All I think I could ride from now on is choppers and big dog to be the best choice out there unless you want to spend a lot more money.

You know you can edit it, right?
If you run the google toolbar is has spellcheck built in it. Just hit the abc...

Whistler,
You will get it worked out......
I know it will make you gun shy every time you go out too though wondering if it will leave you stranded somewhere not starting..
