Can't get it in neutral

Energy One

Hey guys just picked up a used 2004 chopper it is pretty much stock nothing added or taken away.I have a strange one here, when the bike is running it will not go into neutral.
If i cut the bike off it goes into neutral just fine but as long as the engine is running it just wont go in there, keeps going from first to second and will not go into neutral.I have tried easing out the clutch, rocking the bike, and letting it roll alittle to mebbe line up the gears but to no avail. While riding all gears seem to work fine no problems at all.Gonna look like Popeye on my left wrist at this rate.Any ideas here.
2) also was reading the board and said not to start it with the enrichener. That works if the bike is warm but the first start of the day it wont start without using it.Should I adjust something or is it ok to use on the first start of the day? Thanx in advance.

1. Bring the rpm's up a bit and it should slip into neutral easily
2. Adjust the clutch cable a lil bit

try those and get back to us.

Welcome to the site and let's see some pic's of yer scoot.

1. Do as knotso said... bring the rpms up a bit. you can also, give the bike a bit of a roll and it will do it again. Also, you'll find it easier if you change out the tranny oil to Redline Shockproof heavy duty.

2. be sure to give it 2 twists of throttle before starting. Do touch the throttle while starting it... if you must use it... turn it off ASAP and hold idle up. The reason being is it fouls plugs.

Oh and welcome.

Welcome Pir8jack:cheers: lets see some pic's of your scoot!

actually.....the only time I use my enrichener...is when the weather is like cold....like 40's and 50's or even colder.....normally in the summer time...all I do is twist the throttle 3 times after I hit run and let the speedo do its thing...and my bike starts right up.....let warm for a minute or two at 1500 rpms....good to go....but when its cold out...I only use the enrichener to fire it up...then shut off once it fires...let warm for 3 or 4 minutes....thats with twisting the throttle 2 times after turn key and hit run and letting the speedo do its thing then hit start....when bike fires up....immediately shut off enrichener

Sounds like someone had Your idle setting to low(to get that loping cam effect) raise her up abit then it will slide into neutral without throttle action.....IMO
