anyone know if you can go a little bigger on back tire of a 02 pitbull? it has a 250-40-18 and i was thinking of going 260-35-18

Just curious. Its only 10 mm wider which is about .400" total width change.
.200" per side, less than 1/4 of an inch tire width on each side. Is it really worth it? What is the price difference of a 260mm wide tire and a 250mm?
Is there a specific reason why you want to do this?

I guess. I would see how much clearance there is from the belt with the factory tire. Make sure there is no hardware under the fender that might contact the tire. Measure the overall tire height and compare it to the stock tire height. If the new one is a "taller" tire, you might see a difference in rpm (lower). Also, if there is a significant tire height difference, you might not see an interference issue when the bike is parked but at highway speeds or greater, if the tire you go with has significant tire growth while rotating, you might see it then. New tire weight versus factory tire weight. More weight means increased unsprung suspension weight which could affect how your suspension reacts to bumps and whatnot. The differences might be negligible and if they are then no worries. Doing all your homework saves your ass. Just my two cents and some things to check I guess.

I have maybe a 10 vagina hair gap from belt to tire. No way I could ever put a bigger tire on.

Would that be blonde, brunette, or red head? My throat has told me there is a size difference. :)

There is a difference and if he's using those hairs in a quanity of 10... it would most definately be blonde ones.

On the scale its as follows from not there to thin to thick

I've been thinking of going Metzler. Not only from previous good experience with them but from what I felt to be extreem premature failure from the Avons. I purchased a new Avon for the front and within a month I had slight evidence of heat/age/sun cracking on the side walls. I tried to get some info from Avon on the MFGR date and possible replacement and got blown off! Metzlers come in a 240 or 260 so this would be some good info for me if some one has solid reliable data.

I switched from the stock 250 Avon to the Metzeler 260 at about 4500 miles. I got tired of having to pump air into the Avons nearly every time I wanted to ride. The Metzelers seem to handle corners much better than the Avons did. Looks wise, about the same..but I don't have eagle-eye vision anymore!:eek:

My buddy went through 4 Metzlers on his AIH in 7000 Miles without any tire spinning. Dealer says it is aligned correct. They say it is Metzlers problem. That is a 260 as well. I have 7500 miles on my original tire from 2005 and I spin it from time to time... OK, most of the time to time... And it is just starting to get a funky wear pattern to it and getting to be about 1/16" from the wear bars.

I'll go to the new Avon Cobra series here real soon. I have seen too many funky wearing Metzlers.
