Getting a paint job on your big dog

Hey everyone again!! I have another question I have been looking at deals on brand new 08 K9's. A lot of great deals out there but most of the bikes I have been finding I'm not crazy about the paint scheme. I was thinking about buying a solid black one and getting my own paint job done. Wondering if any owners out there I'm sure there must be a few has got there bikes painted by someone. If so any pointers and also let me know what you paid to have that done and let me see pics of your bike. Now I will start out by saying I'm in Houston, TX and I will defiently research painters and want to use someone that has experience painting choppers. Does someone know of any place good in Houston? I know prices would depend on the painter and what you want done? I don't know excactly what I want but the factory paint jobs that big dog offers I like the ones with the skulls the one on big dogs website called purgatory silver leaf and flame thower. Just to give a couple of examples of what I like.

I have discussed this topic before. If you want something flashy and really eye catching. Do what you are thinking. Get a plain bike and have it custom done. That way its custom, what you want, and won't be duplicated.

spiderjason,

If you can, talk to the folks at Mancuso Powersports...especially John Miller, the former service mgr. (now a tech). I know for a fact that they have a painter that they use (and have for quite a while) that is killer, and can do an awesome job of repairing factory paint schemes. This painter should be able to get you what you want...you just gotta find out who he is.

Best of luck in your quest, and gettin a Dog that you are happy with.

Go to airbrush.com and post your question on that site. There are some great custom painters from all across the nation and you can view much of the work they produce. They should be able to answer your question.

I just posted a thread in the Swap Meet section for a new K-9 or under $20,000.

I would say if you order one from the factory with your paint options you WILL be paying full price. As opposed to a dealer trying to unload a bike on his showroom floor!

Better to get a base color then go have it painted and may be less expensive.

Big dog paint quality if pretty top notch. Just be prepared to pay a good painter. I agree now it makes more sense financially to buy at the right price and have it painted.

Hey I tried to look at that bike but the bid had ended. Did you say that was a brand new bike for under $20,000? Honestly, I couldn't buy something used on ebay with ever looking at the bike/car itself. I did hear they might have some kind of protection in case the bike/car isn't what it said or looked like it said it should be but have not researched that enough to fully understand.

Anybody out there

I do have a dealership willing to sell me a brand new 08 K-9 solid black, EFI and diamond cut heads for $25950.00 that will all fee's and delivered to my door. Now it is in another State so that price does not include tax. I have to pay for the tax in Texas when I register it here probably arount $1,500. Which would make the bike about $27,500 with tax, shipped and everything. What does everybody out there think about that?

Hey, thanks for the info!!! A few things first of all I could be working in dallas. I have a job interview here in Houston on Tuesday for a position here. They also have an opening in Dallas so I applied for both area's. So you never know I could be there riding. Did he paint that bike in your pictures that has the flames? I not sure what big dog model that is maybe the bulldog but the bike seems to be black base color with red and orange flames. If you don't mind telling me what did he charge to do that because I'm looking for something like that but with blue flames and maybe a skull in it?
