Doherty Machine

I just installed a Doherty Machine PACC with the teardrop cover. What I didn't expect was for the air cleaner to sit out so far. It makes it difficult to comfortable reach all the controls. Have any others had this problem? What remedy did you use?

I have been looking at that but knew it was going to set out. I liked it for the advantage of not having to pull the air cleaner back plate to remove the carb bowl.

How much does it set out?

Maybe about another 3/4 to 1 inch. It looks great. Runs great. But my leg doesn't bend that way. I'll take pics later. It'll give you an idea.

Search is your friend but honestly, I found it more annoying to read complaints about searching than reading/ignoring another post on a subject.

Riding comfort is why I stayed with the stock cover and a K&N replacement filter.

I have the same setup and there is no real fix to the probelm of the carb/filter sticking out so far. It runs great and looks good too. I guess that is the price we pay for looking and running good.

Okay. I went to the link you offered. I had already read that. I did miss the part about the air cleaner setting so far out. It was, however, that specific thread that lead me to purchase the Doherty.

That being said, did you do anything to improve your foot location, or did you not have that problem?

I have this set up and what I did was put on longer foot pegs and shifter peg, problem solved.

I have the Doherty PowerPac with the S&S Despardo Cover and love it .. no problems with clearance ..etc. I did install the extended control kit. I also attached the breather tube from the rear head to be a good citizen .. may not be after today!

I have the PowerPacc with the S&S American Flag air filter cover. I also have the extended forward controls on my Mastiff. My leg rests against the cover when I am riding but it is not uncomfortable.
