Went to the dealer with the intention of ordering a new K9. Went on my 2002 Pitbull. Salesman approached me & i told him i was interesed in ordering a K9. He asked if i had a trade & he looked at my bike then went talk to management. He told me $12000.00. I told him 12k allowance is all on a 30k+ bike. His explanation was that Big Dogs do not hold there value like Harley Davidson's. Well the wife & i busted out laughting. I asked him then why would i want to pay 30k+ for a new Big Dog. His answer is that people don't care what they pay. I told him fuck this shit & left. How about that?

Trading in is nothing but a rip off. But Big Dog's have got to hold value better than an Amer. Ironhorse. My buddy just traded his 2007 Outlaw for $13,000 for a bagger that was 23,000

12k ain't bad for the bike on a trade, considering you get the sales tax break as well. Look at what our bikes are actually selling for. I've got a pretty nice example of a 2004 Chopper, and not a single serious bite at 14k.

yeah John....nothing pisses me off more than some fucking goof at a dealer wants to start talking shit about what they know....and what people do!
that price didn't seem bad to me.....but try to sell it yourself...then look around like others have said....take your time...you will find a good deal! there are alot of people who need the cabbage...

I would take that 12K and and get that new bike. You will have a very hard time selling your 7 year old bike for anymore than that. If your buying a bike for its future great resale, you need to get out of the biker lifestyle. Anytime you buy a new bike, the price drops like a rock as soon as you ride it away.

I hate to pile on John but $12,000 sounds about right. I have an 08 K9 I would be lucky to get $20,000 for on a trade. I could probably sell it on my own for more but that's just the nature of the beast.

Yea John, I bought my 03 Chop for 13,000 with only 3200 miles on it last year.
I had always wanted a BD but when I saw how quickly they dropped from new I decided to let someone else take the hit and to buy used with the goodies already on it! I have to original papers and the bike went for $33K and change in 03!
Also have a HD, which drops but from my experience not like these!

Well i can't argue with the majority. If you guys say 12k is a fair price i believe you. Now i have the decision on how bad i want the K9.
How much more of a hard on am i going to get riding the K9 vs my Pitbull.
While on the subject what would be better the carbureted or electronic fuel injection K9?

Thanks Guys

Ps: I just sold my 1994 Harley Davidson Softail Custom for $10,500.00

Im a carb guy. I know of problems with the EFI. Carbs almost never have a problem, and if it does, easily fixed. EFI on the other hand, you must take it to a shop, then try and figure out the problem with all the electronics. The fuel pump is in the gas tank also. My carb is a XXX and works awesome with all my mods. Now getting 40 mpg also. JMO.
