Output shaft leaking

Well what I thought was the quad seal behind the pully leaking, was the output shaft (pic attached) looks like a seal is torn.

Well, called Baker and talked to them about it. They say that it can be done in the bike. All I have to do is take the bearing door off and the drive gear will come off with it. He did say that the seal has to come from Big Dog. I am hoping not the factory and it is something that the dealer has. we'll see.

I had a similar problem when I installed the Baker Open Drive. When I call Baker they gave part number, but would not sell me the seals. I went to the dealer and gave them the part Numbers that Baker gave me to repair the leak.

0480872#22 o-ring for main shaft
10705-02499 Large, Primary o-ring
3138-DSSC Main shaft shim for clutch
120-DD6R Main shaft seal
121-DD6R countershaft seal

Their (Baker's) advice was to replace both seals and both O-rings along with the main shaft shim. The dealer took care of it under warranty even though I replaced the primary myself. :2thumbs:

Well It gets worse, pulled bearing door off tonight and this is what I find.
Bearing case looks to be seized into the drive gear. Hopefully drive gear is not messed up :angry: :bang: :bang:. Gonna go to dealer tomorrow to see if they have the parts. Also you can see the magnet on the lower left with all the shavings.

That happens when your rear belt is ran too tight. I'll bet the outer set of needle bearings have walked inboard next to the inner set. the outer bearing should be just behind the seal.
I've seen the same problem on Harleys.

yeah the outer bearing will slide back and forth in between the seal and the inner bearing. It gets worse. part of the bearing cage scarred up the main shaft. left a ridge on the the the shaft. Its at the dealership now. Guess we'll see what happens.
