Thanks. That is helpful. I will no doubt postpone tomorrow, as the holiday will make it impossible to communicate with the other parties flying in. I was born in NO, but have been back only infrequently. My father's family is from Shreveport. But this is a business meeting. Hope Gustav decides to head for Mexico and enjoy the tacos and Dos Equis there. You guys don't need another drenching.

Fuck hurricanes!!!
Unfortunately that's the biggest pain in the ass hear in this region. You get hit with snow and we get hit with mother natures' big, wide spread, hairless, big time and forever moist vagina!

All Good! It doesn't matter where you move to, you always end up with some kind of natural B.S.

Blizzards,Earthquakes,Typhoons ect;ect. Noone can live without something disrupting there lives. We just take it as it comes.

Hog on the grill and beers in the belly. Life is good!

Well I'm gonna get a soap box for a second. To give you a lil background I work for an Environmental consulting firm in Baton Rouge. The owner of our company has his hands on the Coast 2050 Plan for LA. Sherwood Gagliano has been working to save LA coastline since 1979 and was part of a diversion project that has more than proven to rebuild and stabilize "dying" marshes. The problem with this is how many Cat 4/5's will we see before 2050?

Ok I said that to somewhat explain this, It is not that the federal government does not want to help save the coast it is that they have so many restrictions on what can be done inside of wetlands. While this is a good thing to keep oil companies from further degredating the coastline it also limits restoration efforts also. The COE will not issue permits, or if they do it can take months, for destroying a small portion of a wetland in order to save 1000 acres/homes.
They are in the works for these plans but hell it has been three years and no real action has taken place to prevent the destruction of homes and property. So I guess we will have to wait until 2050 to have everything completed.

While I understand it is not an overnight fix I still believe that proven methods should be implement along the MS river. If these diversions have worked since the 80's why not put a few more in and allow some of the sediment that the river transports to build subsiding areas up!

Ok with all that being said everyone be safe and hope your homes and property make it out with little to no damage, cept maybe you Curt you really could use a new DOG, not that there is anything wrong with what you have just know how bad you have been wanting one.:2thumbs:

We dont get any of that crap here in Tucson. No blizzards, earthquakes, typhoons, or tsunami. It may get a little warm a few months but its livable. You can ride year around here. :choppersmiley:

Well said TLB08K9

I hesitated going into much detail because I knew you could explain better.:2thumbs:

I totally agree with you 100% on the diversion projects.

I was thinking maybe I could help evacuate a few 'Dogs' from the dealer in N.O. Help get them away from rising water.

Just trying to do my civic duty:flag:
