Purchased a 2004 BD pit that has the no spark issue. Pretty sure the EHC is shot. Thinking about installing the dyna and not even worry with troubleshooting. I purchased for $1500 so I’m in it right. Thoughts or a different ignition system?
Where is the best place to buy parts in general? I have found there are so many scammers it’s hard to keep track.

thank you all for your time

Spark plugs, wires, coil, controller (ignition module). Check all the connections first. Check the coil with a multimeter. My K9 is VFI. I buy parts from different places including JP Cycles, S&S, Bosch, Amazon, E-bay. All your sensors are Chinese anyway even branded. Get good quality, will be cheaper and last longer.

Take a few pictures under the seat with the battery removed. Get a picture of the EHC and the ignition module. When you turn the key on what happens on the ignition module and the EHC? What happens when you hit the run button? Cranks but no spark? Bigdogpartskingpin.com & Wildsteedworx.com are two companies you can count on for quality parts for your Pitbull. Also Curtis @ Wildsteedworx can test your EHC for you if you find that is not working correctly. Also he has plug & play EHC replacements for the’04.

I paid $1500 to a professional & recognized custom bike builder to rewire my bike, removing the ehc and upgrading the wires to what gauge they should be.
I also had the bypass the Run & Start button with a basic marine ignition switch (key). Haven't had a related electrical issue for years.

I agree with everything Mick said. Parts can be hard to find but the vendors he listed covers most things. I would definitely get with Curtis at WSW about your ECH. If it’s bad that’s who you need to get one from. Best of luck with it. Probably not much wrong

Digging into it this morning and right off someone has cut a lot of wiring. It’s only the compression release buttons but what a crap job. I’ve ordered a shop manual. Scared to put power to it not knowing what they have done

Well I can tell you that your EHC is an original form’04 almost 100% positive. The gold case is a good indicator. It should have a sticker on it somewhere that gives that information. And you have the thunderheart ignition module. The little silver unit in the center. When you put a good battery in it and put power to it let us know what lights up on the EHC and if the red light on the thunderheart comes on briefly. Also, I have seen way worse wiring than that. Have the compression releases been removed & plugged?

Start with the wiring diagram in the Dropbox link. Gonna take a bit of time to trace it all out. Pics and masking tape or number tape will help ya keep track. Dont fret, wiring has Always been a Dog issue. But nothing that cant be fixed

Electrical problems take time to figure out. The grey unit with the sword and heart is the ignition module. It gets a single from a pickup disc in the nose cone. The one on my 2004 stopped working. I replaced it with a unit that mounts in the nose cone. You can buy one from many places on the web.

Now I have a dumb question. In the schematic it shows two comp relief buttons that are wired together before the module and go to same yellow wire. Why not just have one??? Makes no sense. Where are the stock buttons located originally, mine are aftermarket buttons and have been placed in the side covers under the seat on both sides

Interesting. Post a pic of that. That might be a first.
