I’m going to try one more time, first off due to back injury, i haven’t ridden my bike like i intended when i got it, i had the BD 1.4kw starter upgraded to the All Balls 2.0kw and have been chasing an intermittent “whizz” or “miss” starter is fine, ring gear is fine, a few years ago when the starter was installed I was told it misses because of the power increase, didn’t sit well with me than and still not today, the original jackshaft, pinion gear set up was re installed, could that be the damn issue, I don’t have the original anymore, so I can’t take measurements of anything, what I am wondering is, since I have an AB 2.0kw could the splined shaft that comes out of the AB be a bit shorter than the BD 1.4kw and should I be using the AB one piece e 10 tooth jackshaft? Would that make a better fit? Anyone that has delt with this advice would be greatly appreciated, I am going to attempt to attach the listing of the AB jackshaft:
Thanks for any input…

I would be willing to bet the jackshaft is not the problem. A Whirling is usually drive clutch related, it's engaging just not holding. You don't have Compression Releases. If you get a new starter and have the problem it's just a bad drive clutch out of the box, nothing to do with a power increase on that starter. Not common, but not unheard of, seen it plenty of times. Will eventually work once the motor turns over a hair to get you past that point without compression releases.

You also don't want 10 tooth, that won't fit the ring gear. You'll end up introducing a whole new problem. 9 teeth is what you need for your bike, off a 89-93 Harley

Thank you for that info, also thanks for pointing out the 9 vs 10 tooth, I was thinking it was a 10, hopefully I would’ve checked before hand, but you never know these days. I appreciate it!!

Sorry to be a PÍA, however, while attempting to locate an All Balls 2.0kw starter drive clutch for the starter upgrade I did, I’m trying to figure out which one to purchase, are there different size drive clutch’s?, or is it universal for a 2.0kw, every site wants to know what bike, and all there is to pick from is HD, but it’s an aftermarket install,
Thanks
