Front hand brake switch for Brake lights

Does anybody know if the send power for the brake lights through the hand brake switch to power the lights or does that switch just close a contact closure on the main control unit and then that sends power to the lights? The wire have broke off inside my controls and I am looking to resolder and add in a little 2 pin disconnect. Just need to know if I need to use a larger guage cable or I can just use smaller 22 awg. Thanks

Cool thanks. Yea the connector for the brake switch was broke off and the previous owner had taken the wire straight to the PC board and they since broke off so Im going to solder on an new 2 pin connector for it. I got a new connector but the wires are very small guage but if its just going to the EHC and not driving power to the lights then it should be OK.

The switch only has about 5 VDC just a input to the controller to ground.

Nice, Thanks man thats what I thought. I ll be able to use the smaller guage cable connectors. Appreciate the help.
