Luggage for my K9

Hola, I am Heading out on the road soon and looking for some K9 luggage and some advice. I have a backpack that holds everything I need and it straps down pretty well. My question is what's better - facing the front or hanging off the back? It seems that facing the front would be better for a couple of reasons but I am concerned about messing up the paint on the fender even with the bag resting on a pillion pad. I don't have a rack but I do have the two "bars" that hook up with my short sissy bar to create a rack of sorts but I wondering if those will be a pain in the ass to keep tight? What works best for you guys? Thanks!

If you are concerned about messing up the fender get the clear vinyl from Bigdogpartskingpin.com that goes on the fender under the rear seat/pillion pad and prevents marks on thefender from suction cups.
I find on longer trips that facing forward is nocer as it provides a back rest.
Hell, I've had trips where I have had it off the back and off the front to get everythign I need packed.

Saddleman makes several good size travel bags. I usually run mine facing forward on the p pad. Nice back rest if you dont overpack.
