Ehc rip install

So I started putting this thing back together after I finally found a clutch carrier, (2005 bulldog) and was trying to install the new rip harness but I am struggling a little bit trying to find which post is the positive and which is negative on starter, and what wires go to what post? I have 3 large gauge starter wires I believe 1 is ground to battery, and the other 2 are bat positive and generator pos. Also any other tips or advice for putting this new harness in or having schematics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Has your manual and all schematics Boss
Go to EHC wiring schematic thread and the dropbox link is posted.
There are also numerous threads containing information on the RIP install.
This site has loads of good information that will really help you out. Check it out and let us know if you have more questions.

Hey thank you guys, there is quite a bit of good info in there! But I still can’t find anything directing me to which post is + and which one - on the starter? I have also seen that video and looked for many others, none of which are very helpful

You should have a positive going from battery to solenoid. Thick wire. You should have a smaller thin wire going from positive to solenoid. You should have another thick wire going from solenoid to starter motor. Follow the attached schematic above Boss

I got the gen 2 harness so most of my connections are underneath. The brake switch, the horn, and maybe the ignition connector I believe are the plugs I’m hung up on…besides the 3 main starter wires I’m trying to figure out. I ordered my harness from big dog so idk if the schematics from dead one customs that are on drop box are the same or not

Ok, that makes more sense then… I could’ve swore one of those wires when I removed it were wired to the battery ground so I thought the 2 posts were neg and positive. But one being solenoid makes sense bc the harness has a power wire coming out (power to motor), the second wire will go starter to solenoid, and third will be positive to starter positive. Thank you

Read through the thread above Bud, should clear up any questions you may have.
EXCELLENT! That is exactly what I’m suffering with, literally same setup, same issue! That is extremely helpful…thank you savage! I’ll touch base after I get off work and get back to it, hopefully can find the last few remaining connectors, anyone happen to know where the horn is on this thing?

I believe the ground wire you mentioned goes to the mounting bolt of starter. That is probably the part you have forgotten. The thread above has sketches, explanations etc. Read the entire thread, I think you will be clear at that point.

It's behind your battery cover on the right side of the bike (when your sitting on it). Just remove the right half of the cover and it's that round thingy about 2" in diameter

Also please forgive me guys, I’m an idiot I know I Should’ve documented all these connections and took pics, Ames certainly shouldn’t have waited 3 months to start working on it after tearing it apart. I just don’t have much money being a single dad nor do I have a lot of time. Just recovered from a house fire so it’s been a rough year. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but that being said I’ve never worked on bikes. This is my first motorcycle and it’s been a nightmare since day 2. I got one full day of riding then the starter quit on me, (or so I thought), I purchased a new one for 400$ and didn’t fix anything. So I’m now into the bike for 10,400 dollars, then I wired the starter wrong initially and smoked my Speedo and main harness. So that’s another 1500$ (roughly 900$ ehc rip 350$ Speedo, 50$ Speedo harness and got plug wires and new hand controls while was at it) so I’m broke over this bike and I just can’t afford anything else and I just want to be able to enjoy it. But back to the point, so the starter was never the problem bc I hooked it up correctly the first time before I did all the other damage and took my primary off to see that the chain wasn’t aligned but all the nuts were tight and no play in the basket. So I finally found that clutch carrier bearings were shot and I also damaged my clutch hub taking it apart bc I didn’t realize was reverse thread. That is what took me so long to get started on repairing bc it literally took 4 months nearly for me to locate new clutch hub. So now I still don’t even know if I have the original problem solved and if the bike will even crank, bc that was originally the issue. It’s very stressful and I should’ve never tried to tackle it myself

Yes sir, should be a 40 amp circuit breaker inline from battery. Very important. Look at schematic Boss
I remember seeing a little grey rectangular box, but I’ll have to take a closer look when I get home. I thought that was the ignition maybe. Like I said I’m a newbie to these things and I have pretty decent mechanical knowledge of cars, but not motorcycles. Ik a lot of stuff is same concept, but a lot of differences as well. Thank you so much for the help
