This post made up my mind for me;

NO

the proprietary parts and the inferior hardware turned me sour.
I want a bike that stands out from the crowd, but I work way too hard to throw 28K @ a piece of art. It's gotta run, pure and simple.

Maybe executives @ Big Dog will see forums like this, and see that their prospective customers love the looks of the bikes but want, simplicity and reliabilty as well.

remember......it doesn't matter what you buy .....sooner or later everything will have some type of problems......look at Ray....he has over 55,000 miles on his scoot ....and still running.....he has had his share of problems...but Big Dog steps up and backs up their bikes!
other customs have their share of problems too! I have had my problems....but that wouldn't make me not buy another Dog.....I would buy another one if I had the chance...and the cabbage!
hey...everyone has their own opinion.....do what ya gotta do bro....

kerr will be more comfortable on a Honda than one of these bikes especially if he makes a decision based on one person's comment. Kerr is not ready for this type of bike. At least he know's this up front.

PS: The pic of the bike in your avitor cannot run with my Dog in any way.

See Ya

Kerr, not picking on you. :flag:
But if you look at the thread on "Would you by a BD again" you will see that over 80% of us would so that says something and you can't beat the BD warranty/support even when they are out of warranty.
You won't get that from HD, hell they don't even service there own older bikes now!!

Sorry but we are a "Proud Pack". :flag:

Thanks Raywood, no harm no foul. I understand and respect product loyalty. I was prepared for personal attacks because of my choice. Hey it happens.

Take care, and ride safe.

These aren't bikes for the mechanically challenged. Not that they are unreliable, but they aren't for noobs either, IMO.

That's very true, you can come to my home any day of the week and maybe fine my bike in a hundred pieces as I go over it weekly ensuring it's ready for my next long adventure. I understand others don't have the time or tools or place to do it though.
Just like today it's coming apart for my departure next week to Sturgis. It will be about a 1000 pieces this time.
Another 4000 miles for the odometer! :D

Hey Kerr.....Good luck with the choice you made.!! It's fairly obvious you are not ready to own a Big Dog.!!! A question for ya, did you get to ride or test a Big Dog while trying to make your decision??? Ill go out on a limb here and guess you did not. You'd must ride one, get the stares, listen to the comments and just get that feel we BD owners get when firing these monsters up and cruising down the highway. It's nothing like riding the metrics, HD's or other make and model motorcycle.! I, for one, can say, I have a ball every time I take my Mastiff out..! It's really fun riding a motorcycle such as this. Maybe, one day, you'll get the chance.!! If you just want the "feel" of wind in your face, buy whatever, but if you want to ride like ya stole it........well, there's only one gleem in my eyes.!!!

Good luck Dude....and ride safe.!!!!

Well put, Lup. I feel the same way. Certainly Kerr and anyone else is free to disagree - that's what makes life great. I wish him the best and hope to see him on the road someday no matter what he is riding. JC

Love me some Big Dog

Everyone is correct, I went to the ROT looked at all those HD and there all the same decided right then I wanted something that stood out and researching everything Big Dog come floating up to the top. There's not a day that has gone by that someone is asking me questions about my bike and admiring it. Not counting those babe's slowing down giving me the nod on the interstate and OTHERS to mention. :2thumbs:

Some people dont like Big Dogs... my wife would be happier if I bought a Goldwing...

One guy told me that my K9 didn't look like it could run...

... some people dont like the gap between the neck and the motor.

... some people dont like the fat tire.

I am buying a Honda XR 650 this week...
The Dog aint going to be neglected, just not abused anymore. :2thumbs:

I rented a Harley last summer and went for a ride with Vegas.
He showed me a good time, but I felt like I was riding a effin scooter

Once you run with the Dogs you understand, but will never go back...

The Cost is worth the Reward...

... and a ground up build will cost more than the Dog, with a whole boatload of issues as well.

I think that they are actually a pretty good value. :zz2cents:
