I emailed S&S and asked them directly because I am not sold on some of the self proclaimed expertise that I see here from individuls that think they know what they are talking about (which just adds to a rediculous level of being mislead and confusion). Doing this will put to bed any question as to the function of the electronic compression releases that are installed on the 117" motor on some of the Big Dog motorcycles. Their email response is below.
"The compression releases only activate when the starter is turning (When your finger is on the start button during start up) and then they close as soon as you stop cranking the engine."
Thanks,

My email to S&S:
Could you explain the sequence of operations for electronic compression releases that come with the 117" engine supplied with the Big Dog line up? Basically, when the come on, when they shut off and anything in between. Thank you.
