Yeap. that's one of the severe flaws with that SAE connector design. We should be using something like the XT30/XT60/XT90 (amperage rated) that are KEYED and prevents this. While the SAE connector appears keyed - Neg is the exposed terminal, it will get out of sync when thryint t extend the cable verey easily.- YouTube

Most likely.Chinese made wires?
The ends were clamps. I had them conected to an old battery that was hard wired with a quick connect. I was surprised to see the odd connection. I looked @ the other connectors I have n some are correct some are not. Thats why the vid. Always double check even if ur sure. Gotta wonder how many brains/batteries that have been taken out by something simple like this?In the video he is uses too END connectors connecting them together. Which is why its flipped. In normal applications, Charger/End (Har wired or Clamps) it works normal. Also Extension cables work fine as well.
And as I stated a properly keyed connector would not allow this to happen -- The sae connector used for battery tenders is IMHO a bad design. In the video he is uses too END connectors connecting them together. That is quite correct Harry and I hadn’t thought of it . Last summer I put two dif units together on a battery both ends were factory stock and one was wired exactly backwards. Talk about wires goin like a primer cord and thank goodness it was on the lawnmower .The ends were clamps. I had them conected to an old battery that was hard wired with a quick connect. Mike what is a xt 30 for us non tech individuals. And as I stated a properly keyed connector would not allow this to happen -- The sae connector used for battery tenders is IMHO a bad design.
I've given serious consideration to changing mine to an XT30 and carrying an adapater for emergencies.

Oh I have those disconnects on my feed trucks to operate the round bale bed. Didn’t know they had a name. Very clean setup and no corrosion and positive contact in prob 15 years of abuse without any maintenance.XT30 is a popular RC battery connector

I can see that part but on my deal it was a charger plugged into the clamps so should have been same polarity but the quick connect was reversed polarity. Can’t remember the pos charger as I chunked it pretty far when I got it unmelted from my hand.. . I do see what you saying with the two male sides connected .Probably the others are eluding to this ...
But let's say you had two battery clamp extension ends from "Battery Tender" devices .. Then you plug them two together ... well the polarity is going to be jacked up / flipped . Just what your seeing .
Those plugs are wired male/female .
Plugs are not indexed, so your essentially plugging two males together LMAO.
Seems more disgusting then plugging two females together from my prospective. Hehe !
