You have to remove the top motor mount bolt top remove the throttle body cover.

Remove the fuel line from tank. Be prepared with a vacuum cap or piece of 3/16 hose with a bolt in it to cap off tank. Replace the fuel line as many of the old lines break down with ethanol and also gum up the injectors.

Remove the fuel rail screws(seen in pic below). Once the are out, the rail and injectors can be pulled out.

I use a sheet metal screw to remove the injector screens. I recommend to just replace them. A standard fuel injector screen works perfectly.

You can also use carb/injector/brake clean to flush out injector while you have them out. Use a 9v batter to cycle the injector.

The bike has a sticker that says to reset it anytime you disconnect the battery. Why is that? Does the iac lose memory? My second issue is the controls are set up strange: wire plus system, turn key on and no need to hit run button just hit start. High/low deflates air ride, off/run button inflates air ride system. If no adjust ment in air ride needed turn key and hit start without hitting run and it starts right up. So does that mean that the run is always on? And if that's the case to do the iac reset do I skip the "hit run" part of reset sequence since bike starts without hitting run like it's automatically engaged? Cause I have never heard any pulsing which should be the iac recalibrating?

It says wait 15 seconds. IAC does not have memory. The EFI module will loose its position and it take ~5-10 seconds to travel end to end to re set its position. This will only occur after the EFI module looses power, like a battery disconnect. If you hear this every time you key off/on then you dont have battery power to the EFI.

Wire plus is certainly a curve ball here. Yes you no longer need to hit run.

One thing that concerns me is wire plus did not originally have a dedicated battery supply to the EFI.

You need to ensure pin 31 has 12v at all times, even at key off.

So what exactly am I listening for to ensure the iac is resetting? And do I need to give it throttle or anything to make sure it stays running while its resetting

And after I disconnected and reconnected the battery I did the "key on hit run, off for min 15 sec then restart" so with the wire plus system I didn't even do the reset correctly because hitting run inflates the suspension? Correct?? Cause I heard no pulsing. Am I thinking right here?

If you have air ride like mine the hi/lo buttons for the light inflates/deflates the air ride suspension.

I believe the past owner said he had the air ride put on the bike after he bought it so they probably wired it into a wp system originally w/o air ride wiring.

It's should be close to the battery for easy access

I'll look I know there is a mini fuse on the opposite side by the ecu and the wp birds nest. I'll look for one by the battery.

Two questions: where can I get the injector screens and where can I get injectors in case I just want to replace those?

One of the members on here had a source for the injectors. I think it was BigDogBro1.

I think it's fixed. Hopefully. Put everything back to the way it was when I got it. Checked the fuses. Good. Put some Lucas injector cleaner in the tank. Reset the iac. Filled it up n ride it got a while. Coming to stop here and there low idle every now and again. Then after about 30 miles or so decided to get on it and open her up a couple of time. She seemed to like that and idled great after that. It was owned since 09' by a guy who is almost 70 now and said he hadn't really rode it in 2-3 years besides getting it inspected and rare occasions like that. I know there is crap in the tank.
So I'm thinking opening it up a couple of times along with the Lucas cleared out the injectors a bit. I'll ride it again tomorrow and this weekend and post update.

Future plan: ride it like I stole it for about 500-1000 miles. Then replace those fuel injectors and flush the tank. Put in a S&S pro tune2. And replace the wire plus set up with DOCS. And new fuel pump.

I'm thinking that ought to about do it. What do you all think? I've only had a big dog for about a year you guys are the pros and I highly value your opinions

Personally, I think you're spendin money needlessly. Run the injector cleaner through it and give it some time before ya fix something that aint broke. Your bike and your money, your call! :2cents::2cents:
