There’s an old thread about this where I found several options. The coolest one was a push button which did away with the key.

I went out later and it fired right up, I'll play around tomorrow and see if anything looks wacky.

My switch became loose and I couldn't start my bike. I wired around it and used a switch (no key needed). Eventually had a marine key...
