Without a sissybar, how do you secure your passenger half-helmet?

My 05 Chopper has RSD so I tried securing the passenger half-helmet to the left strut.
It's ok but:
- I have to wrap some plastic around where the helmet secures since the D-rings would otherwise make contact with, and scratch, the chrome.
- It wants to loosen so I have to tighten the helmet straps each ride.
- It's time consuming to secure and remove since I have to tie the strap to itself once it's through the D- rings.
- It ends up on the side leaning slightly upside down so if/when it rains it'll get wet at least somewhat.

I'd like like to find some way to pass something flat under the passenger section of the seat that will stretch and lock over the top of the helmet so the helmet is shell-up on the passenger seat and secure. If I gin something up, if/when a rider is using the helmet, it would have to neatly secure to itself or something else.

Just curious what everyone else is doing?

(Why not just get a sissy bar ... $800 for bar and struts and another 3-$400 for a cover.)

Personally don't have this issue but have you considered a Cargo Net? Place under the seat and "hook" around the helmet? When not in use fold up and put in your pocket?

I have but the knots in the cargo net don't make it ideal to slide under the seat smoothly.
Also when not in use I would have to remove it from the seat since the hooks on the end would hang off the sides unsecured.
It's not ideal but may be the only solution

Guess I'm lucky. My wife is the passenger, so I don't need to store it when she's not on the bike. Helmets are pretty big and problematic to store though........

But if you're serious about passengers, you need a sissy bar anyway. The last thing you want to do is worry about the ol' lady flopping off the back when you gun it unsuspectingly. And they never suspect its coming.

Are you in a helmet state -- meaning you are already always wearing yours?
If so, using cords like this https://www.niteize.com/product/Gea...erm=gear tie&utm_campaign=Gear+Ties+(Fitness)
You can attach it above the light on the triple trees -- I did this on my old bike when I lived in NJ and rode into PA before I bought the K-9 (have sissy bar with that) and now I live in helmet free state and gave up on passengers -- went to solo seat and no rear pegs for now.

On my Mastiff ive secured a helmet to the handlebars behind the speedo. My half helmet has a rubber lip so i sit the helmet on the handlebars the use the strap on the helmet to go around the handlebars. It may vibrate and move around a little but its there and if a problem was to arise I'd be able to see it coming.
