Wireplus to Gen 1 RIP

So I have an 06 Ridgeback and it had the wireplus kit and the black box crapped out. The owner ordered the Gen 1 RIP kit from BD. Well I have gotten all the old stuff ripped out and getting the new kit in... and Im running into some things that I cannot find where they go....

First of all... I cant seem to find the circuit breaker anywhere.... at all.

Second - The crank posistion sensor is black and red and then goes to a white and brown wire with a connector (assume it was installed with the wireplus) and then I cannot find a place where it would be plugged in on the Gen 1 harness.

3rd - the ignition switch is a 3 position switch and from what I can tell the stock one was a 2. So not sure how to get the wiring and all that done and where to wire them to. Other than that... everything seems to be plug and play..

Also to reaffirm my suspictions... the only box under the seat should be the new EHC from the gen 1 kit and the battery... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I dread the day I have to start messing with the electrical system on my bike. That s#*t is a drag! Good Luck sorting it out!

Take a pic of the ignition switch most likely you got a sportster switch in there and the original switch was removed for wires plus. That gets you in a jam because that sportster switch is bigger so they drilled the hole bigger on the coil you might need a new switch and coil cover.

Crank sensor should run to a silver box in the battery tray the ignition module, unless someone changed the nose and dropped in a cam sensor.

Pics will help

To answer your second ?
Find out what crank positron sensor is installed and get their schematics . Use the rip kit schematics to match them up and get a jst kit from Curtis @ wild steed worx . Otherwise you may need to hardwire them together . Jst would be the better option

Sorry! I’ve been swamped at work and haven’t had a chance to respond. I’ve attached a picture of the ignition switch that is... well was.... on the bike with the wire plus kit that has now been taken out. I have since ordered a circuit breaker from BD and got it installed once I found where the voltage regulator wire was hiding. So there are 3 plugs coming off the ignition module and I’m tryin to figure out where the 3rd one plugs in... I’ll have to go get the wire colors later. Thanks for all the responses!

Judging by the wire diagram you only need 2 of the wires of the switch. Put a meter on it and figure out Off position (no continuity) and On position ( reads continuity). You won't need the third wire and also I believe I've read somewhere in the Service Manual never to put any other load on the ignition switch. Once your sure you have it wired correctly cut the third wire off so there is no chance of it grounding out in the future. Call bigdogisback.com to find out which color wires you should be looking for. Keep in mind all dogs are not the same. The new harness may have extra connectors in order to accommodate options which were available ( air ride) that you may not have.

well I ended up having the guy order an igntion switch that is compatable with the wiring harness. Now I have everything hooked up but I think im missing someting because I dont see how power gets to anything because the only wire coming off the positive side of the battery is the cable running to the starter. I hooked everything up and tried to turn the key to get the headlight to work adn all that and I got NOTHING... like no light on the ignition module or anything. I sat back and stared at it for a few min and I thought well how the hell is power getting any where??? So is there supposed to be some kind of wiring running from the batter to the circuit breaker?? because I dont know how else power would get to anywhere in the bike.... Also is there a way to tell if the ignition module has gone bad? I figured I could run a wire to the BAT side of the circuit breaker which would send power to the ignition module and see if that helped... but I wanted to make sure I wasnt gonna fry something in the process... hes gonna be pissed if he has to order a module though I know that lol...

so the only things I have hooked to the battery right now are the positive cable from the starter to the positive side of the battery and then the ground bundle off the harness and a chassis ground to the negative side of the battery... NOTHING ELSE.... def seems Im missing something

Do you have this schematic, and the Service Manual? The Service Manual can be found here, compliments of Shannon (Mr Wright)

You are missing the positive side off the EHC. The Circuit breaker only protects from an over-current or short from the charging system. The bike will run but not charge if it is not connected. Not your problem right now.
The EHC powers and controls everything on the bike. You must figure out for CERTAIN which wire is ground and which is power before you connect it to the battery. Pull the connectors off the EHC and look for the noticeably large pins. If you have a WD from the RIP kit it should show which colors and pin number are the Pos and Neg from the EHC. Probably Red for Pos and Black for Neg. pin A3 for Pos and A4 for Neg. I'm going off my WD from an 07 carbed bike. I can't be certain yours is the same but most likely it is. Follow them back to where you have them connected and connect them correctly. Since you said you are all wired up it is obvious you have the Pos side of the EHC connected incorrectly somewhere and maybe the Neg side as well.
Call Bigdogisback and ask for help identifying the wires. It's critical that you get it right or you could toast your new set-up.
