Winter weight

I'm running 20w50 at the moment, but they're calling for a cold winter. Anyone have any opinion on switching to a different weight for winter use? (I'm in New York)

How cold is it when you ride? Anything over freezing should be ok with 20w50. Just make sure you let the bike warm up properly. A heater close to the bike an hour before you ride isn't a bad idea. I wouldn't run straight 50 weight unless it's summer time.

that was the whole purpose of inventing a multi-viscosity oil, so it would be thin enough for colder weather(20) and thick enough for hotter weather (50).

Thank you wood. I was gg to say the same thing. People take the multi-vesc oils for granted. They are just so use to seeing it.
