Which U-Haul for a chopper??

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
U haul actually makes a bike trailer. If one isn't available, check the inside dimentions. Just remember there are no tie downs in there

just shipped one back inside a ford 2500 transit cargo van. needed a longer ramp than expected due to the height but was very happy having it inside and now in the snow storm that i drove through.

I second that the K9 fits on the uhaul trailer with the wheel chock up front. Fits snug, but it does fit. Just be careful loading it as the ramp is a bit steep. If you can, back it up to a sidewalk and load the bike off that.

Good point, I used another ramp to add length on that trip it's in the bed of my truck

A 10 foot U-Haul will work. It has a wood floor so you can install eye hooks and strap the bike down. I've done it many times. You will just need some form of ramp to get the bike in there.

Yep that K9 fits with the Uhaul by about two inches in Length . It will drag the frame so what I did was put a block of wood under the ramp and a piece of 2x6 under each rear tire of my truck and then it just cleared the bottom of the frame. You have to get the angle just right.

This is good to know. I rented a trailer to pick up my bike, and based on the measurements on U-Haul's website, it looked like it would be 1 - 2 feet too short. I got the regular 10 or 12' trailer which was plenty big, and luckily made it without incident back home even without the wheel chock.

Do y'all put the kickstand up ?

The idiots at the dealer where I picked mine up insisted leaving it down. It wasn't touching, of course, but nothing good could come from leaving it down seems to me.

The kick stand down is just a safety measure but it’s only good if your bike falls to left and then if it does when you hit a bump it bounces back to the right and falls it happened to my dirt bikes many times so I eventually took off kick stand and put it on a bucket but the street bike that’s not an option so I leave mine up if the trailer is enclosed you won’t see it anyway CRASH

Hi how big was your U-Haul 5x8 with a wheel chock. I need to do the same thing. Trailer my 2007 big dog K-9,. Thanks for your reply.

kind regards,

kim
You need the one with the wheel chock in front like the picture up in the post. That will make it a good 9ft. I think I had like 2 inches to clear the gate. Make sure you secure the rear of the bike with straps also to keep it from bouncing side to side because it will if you hit a good bump in the road.
