This bike keeps baffling me... I cant find one single fuse and I have both tanks off the bike and the seats. Its a 96 vintage classic I with no power going to the coil and I just put a nee ignition plate in it.
where are the fuses on this thing?

This is what I have under the dash. The black wire on the right that's attached to nothing terminates with a female connector also not connected zip tied to the ground strap under the trans. And help or diagrams would be amazing!

Not sure if it should or not but I think I've traced everything with the system except for one wire. One of the wires going to the coil has a jump wire on it that plugs into block 11 under the dash. The other two wires from this block go forward I to the right side of the handlebars. I'm assuming that's the wires giving power from the run stop switch to the coil but not positive since the switch works but the coil has no power

Everything connected but now nothing happens when I hit start. No turn over no click nothing. Lights do work though. This thing is possessed

I meant no disrespect, but with your comments and the picture, I had no idea that this wiring could actually be in a bike, matter of fact I thought it was a prank pic.

The dash switch works fine lights and all come on just not turning the starter now but it does have power. I don't have the time to be on this wild goose chase when I don't know what the majority of the connections are esp that mess under the dash. I took no offense either and I wish that was a prank pic... Imagine my reaction when I pulled the tanks off!
try contacting Jason @ KMW (Kansas Motorcycle Works http://www.kansasmotorcycleworks.com/ ). he was the head electrical troubleshooter at Big Dog Motorcycles. maybe you can get a direction to proceed from him if he is willing.

I see a couple of things in your photo...
1. A lot of it looks like standard Harley wire colors/connections.
2. If you ever want that bike to be reliable, rewire it!
If you just find and fix the current problem your bike will most likely leave you stranded along the road somewhere after something else goes wrong. By rewiring now you'll have the advantage of knowing what goes where and what does what. Down the road you'll be way ahead in your troubleshooting if another electrical problem crops up...

Rewire is the plan down the road but I want to hear this motor run before I do anything more to it

Finally traced enough wires to find the start switch was grounding itself out inside the housing now I have power at the coil and it cranks but no spark. Voltage at bettery is 12.48, v at the power wire to the coil is 11.1 and v across the coil with wires connected is 8.8 so hopefully a new coil and she will come to life!
