What's wrong with a bike on the showroom 2 years?

Today I went to look at a new (unregistered) 2009 K9 with 35 miles on it. The dealer let me ride it and all seemed normal. After I stopped, we noticed fuel dribbling out the bottom of the bike until I turned off the fuel valve under the tank. It looked like fuel was coming out of the carburetor over-flow tube. While I went for lunch, the tech opened the carb and cleaned gunk off the needle valve. Once I returned, the leak stopped and all seemed normal.

So I guess the bike has been there for two years without any stabilizer in the tank and was wondering if there may by other issues. The dealer is willing to take my '04 Chopper as trade and it's tempting to get the K9. My question is: can there be any significant issues with a bike that's been dormant for so long?

Not a big worry Fred, the carb should be completely cleaned, the battery may need replacing if it hasn't been maintained, tires probably ok, could have flat spots or cracking., but doubtful if it has been indoors. With the carb cleaned and a fresh tank of fuel the bike is probably fine.

Good Question.......apparently Biker Dreams of Atlanta feel a 2009 is worth full retail if never registered. I question that, however, for the sake of BD's I hope so. I am still disappointed my 2004 only brought what it did. Bikes are worth what ever some one is willing to pay. IMO a 2 yr old bike just sitting is NOT worth more than one that has been ridden and well maintained.
