What's the deal on installation with the new EHC's?

A guy just called me and wants me to install a new EHC in his 2004 Chopper. What's involved, are they plug and play? Also, can anyone get a deal on the EHC's? What's a Wire Plus cost these days? He is not interested in paying the labor for the wire plus, I already discussed this with him, but I'm trying to push him that way.

Thanks!

Plenty of older posts here on the 04 upgrade. It's called a "daughterboard" and enables the 04's to use the newer style EHC. Dakotobos posted a lot of pictures of it on here somewhere.
More expensive if I remember right.

Haus of Trikes just quoted a guy with a 2004 Chopper almost the same price to put in the updated EHC in it as installing the Wire-Plus module. The Updated EHC's are out of stock through BDM as of last friday he said. So unavailable anyway unless a dealer has one.

Why would anyone install a POS current EHC that is pretty much a guaranteed failure within a year or so? I would never take a chance on one.:loony:

It would be on thing if BDM was including a one year warranty, but 30,60,90 days, whatever it is, I say is a huge risk.

Unless the guy has bottomless pockets and he just wants to shell out $600 a year to ride his bike with a BDM EHC in it.

It's not my choice. I gave him the options, and he picked. Remember, putting in an EHC is just a few min of my time, while putting in the wire plus is several hours. From his standpoint, it's much cheaper to do the EHC. My suggestion was to rewire the whole bike for 12v like a proper chopper, but he didn't bite. BTW, BD only gives you 90 days on the EHC.
