What I've been up to...

So, sorry I don't talk much; just feel no reason to say anything unless I think it may be truly useful or interesting. I saw KnotSo made a post to my intro asking how things were going, and I figured I just start a new thread to give some updates.

Weather here is still spotty, and I'm still only on my permit (I'm one of those guys who jumped from a dirt bike to a Dog) so my riding has been a bit limited. But the past two weekends have been beautiful and I've been able to get a good bit of time in the saddle. Plus I work odd hours so I've been able to cruise around my development in the afternoons without bothering anyone. I've got a pretty good feel for the Dog so far and I frigging LOVE it! MSC courses are starting up this month and I'll also be jumping on board with that. I'm sure I'll pick up a lot of tips and whatnot there, and it will also get me stamped for my actual license endorsement.

In January I put on a set of Martin Bros Medustas, and am pretty happy with them. I'm running them with baffles, and while they aren't quite as loud as I hoped they would be; they do sound good and are a huge improvement over the stock pipe. My Step-Dad went with the Karata and gave me his flamed primary covers which I had refinished black and red to mach my bikes ghost flames. I also put in a basic oil pressure gauge, a chrome oil pressure sensor cover, and about a half trillion hot-toppers. I'll be splurging on pegs and grips this next pay, and I've got a whole giant list of other crap I'd like done as time goes by.

All in all i'd say things are going quite well :2thumbs:

Pull the baffels, trust me those pipes can be very loud. Get looking scoot. your primary covers are cool as hell. Ride safe.

great to hear everything is going to yur liking. MSC course is the best investment you can make in yourself as far as riding is concerned. should be pretty easy on a mutt, my son and i both did it on K-9's and was well worth it.

Thanks pig pen. I did try pulling the baffles and while it made them louder, I also thought them to be rather hash. I opened them up a little bit using a punch to push down the prongs inside and it seems to give me a happy medium between quality sound, noise, and back-pressure. I've been thinking of trying Thunder baffles but not sure I want to spend $80 on somthing that gives me a little bit of a "snake oil" vibe.

I always felt the same way even though several others on the other forum I belonged to recommended them highly. A brand new pair came up for sale in the classifieds there for half price though so I figured I'd give them a try on my past ride. They worked out great and sounded better then either of the baffles I had tried before them with better performance. There's very little to them and you can create something similar yourself but they're still worth the price imo. At least for that exhaust on that bike it was, no idea how they might do for yours.

Echo3, good looking bike, like what you did with the primary covers. Good luck on the MC course. I came from a dirt bike also but I had KZ1000 back in the late 70's. Biggest difference going to the asphalt is you really got to watch out for the idiots on the cell phones, ect.

More lives would be saved if we had cell use while driving laws rather than the proposed gun bans. I see a near miss every day. Soccer mom cell phone mini van. & chewing gum at the same time!!

Rad, my step dad has a 05 chopper he bought new so talking to him I had a pretty good idea what I was in for. I guess the most suprising thing would be the power. I expected a lot and wasn't the slightest bit disappointed. The first time I really jumped on second gear it felt almost like geting punched in the gut, or going down a drop on a bad ass rollercoaaster.

Yeah, people drive like f*$%in' ass. Thats hands down my biggest concern, especially here in NJ. I kinda miss being stationed in the south...there were still a lot of ass hats on the road; but they didn't seem to have such a blatent F you I'm the most important person out here and I'm gonna do whatever I want attitude.
