What is the correct S&S oil filter for 117 engines?

I thought changing fluids in my K-9 would be simple - I'm finding it's a real learning experience. Strokers Dallas sold me an S&S oil filter that states for '84 thru 1999 S&S engines (S&S #31-4102). The S&S #31-4104 is for large V-twins 1999 thru later. I sent S&S an email asking which is correct for my 2008 K-9. They said the #31-4102 is correct and that the newer #31-4104 is for twin cam style engines and would harm my K-9. See note below:

The engine in the Big Dog is a V series engine and takes the filter that
you purchased. The other filter is for the twin cam style engine and
will not work on your Big Dog. It would cause major problems. Just to be
clear the 84-99 filter is CORRECT for your BIG DOG.
Thanks,

Does that make sense to you? Is that correct? Thanks for sharing your experience.

K&N is kind of like S&S - 171 is for Twinkies, the "other one" for Evols...

I lived with what the dealer installed at 500, and switched to K&P at 2500, so the numbers are a little fuzzy. There are reasons why they call me Slow Vince (but part of that is laziness - I'm too tired to search the forum for the technical difference between Twinkie & Evol oil systems).
