What bike is this transmission for?

I was in a bike shop in Clarksville TN and asked if they had a transmission for a Big Dog and they showed me they had built a while back. They showed me something they had. Said it was a hydraulic unit. Figured someone could tell me what it is here. I am not interested in it but someone else may need it.

Resembles a Iron Horse if My memory is correct "Roadmax" or something like that. Might have been made in Korea?

Next guess:confused:

Now my question is ?

Has anyone mocked up a standard (non big dog ) transmisson inner primary to see how it mates to the frame. As in bolt it to the engine to see the line up of the existing trans mounting plate (not counting offsets as well) ?

Bolt patterns on the trans should be different but I saw the question posted before and know that there would be starter room problems potentialy.

Just asking?

Thanks V

Agree... definately an Iron Horse trans. The sprocket cover is the dead giveaway.

Unfortunately you can not change transmissions.... if you have a 05 and later. The bolt patteren will not allow it. Without some transmissoin plate changes to your frame and a lot lot of other work.

Ya, definitely a foreign copy.

As far as swapping them out there like Troppushcet said, you will have to change out your transmission plate. The offsets are different, mainshaft length is different and starter location is different. My guess is that on most of the BDM's you will run into issues on fitment with the oil tank as well.

Thanks for all the great information...:2thumbs:
As I said in my original post, I am not interested in it.
I knew it was not like my Baker unit. Only posted to find out what it was and if someone had a bike that could use it......
Baker has my transmission. I need to find a unit to tear apart and learn how to work on them though. Friend of mine owns a Bike shop here and told him to call me down when he has a transmission repair going on so I could learn something...
Thanks for all the info..

You GOTTA look at the video on BAKERS facebook page of James Simonelli and another BAKER Drivetrain "Mad Scientist" dragging a korean roadmax tranny behind a pickup truck in a scientific test & research project:D:eek:

It held up as expected:eek:....but in all fairness....a korean roadmax tranny makes a great boat anchor on a 2 man rowboat - which is what it does best:perform underwater so you dont miss shifts or hear it explode !
