Weekend torture...

Had a nice weekend, knocked the dust off the Dog and went for a little ride... About a 200 mile round trip. Nice weather, nice route, my girl on the back... It was too perfect.

And then....
Shifting problems set in...
DUN DUN DUN...

OK maybe too much drama...:lol:
The clutch cable adjuster came loose and was getting worse with every stop. Sadly I had to borrow tools from a Harley rider who was laughing until I pointed out that his tool kit was standard for his bike not the other harleys... Hmmmmm I wonder why?
Anyway... any ride that doesn't require a trailer or a hospital is a good ride to me. So I still had a good weekend; and everything is back in proper order thanks to the info here.

That has happened to me too, thought I cinched down the locking nut, locked it to the wrong nut :bang:

What model Harley's come standard with tools :confused: somebody might have forgot to put mine in...

My 09 Road Glide came with a tool kit & i've added a few other items to it, I've already stopped and help two other stranded brother out along side the road. Baldie, a true biker wouldn't laugh at anothers break-down. Unless your sitting around over a round of beer's and your both laughing about the days events......:zz2cents:

True... the bike is only a few months old, but it was the bike BDM used in the photoshoot for the accessory catalog and the website, so things have been installed and removed before I got it. Who knows what else might be loose.

Why was he laughing? Shit happens....If it was him I bet he wouldn't think it was funny. Whether it's a BIG DOG or harley or metric, they are all machines and machines can have problems. I ride with friends that all have harley's and at no time would I be laughing if one of them had problems and vice versa.

Exactly... laughin abt it later is fine. During the break down... its all about getting bk on the road.

We're pretty tight, I was the best man at his wedding, we poke fun at each other whenever we can... It was all in good fun.
But you know what they say... it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt... And then it's hilarious... j/k

I hear ya... I got a few buds like that... and yeah that is the exception. At least till it gets too seroius and they guy is not laughin. There is THAT line that we each have and don't feel like jokin.

,,,,,,,,, on that note,,,, if you do carry a tool kit, where do does it live on your bike???? (pics are a plus) do you leave it on the bike when your parked? at the bar? show & shine?
and where would you guys recommend putting a tool kit?

My dog has left me stranded twice,,, both times,, i was close enough to home,, to push it. (i got no trailer,, and no ol' lady to rescue me)

Anyway,, i'm just looking for ideas,,, on where to put a tool kit,, and what tools are necessary. :2thumbs:

Yeah... He is an exception... He sat beside me when I was in shock trauma after being hit by an SUV while out riding a few years back. And took off work to look after me. So I guess I kinda have to let him slide... lol

On my other bike I have it at the bottom of the frame near the pegs in a nice leather tool bag. I got a pretty decent tool kit online, the Harley kits kinda suck. I also keep the tool kit in a ziplock to keep it dry. This is probably where I'll put it on the Dog as well.
