Warrantee question

So, in anticipation of the 2008 Ridgeback being delivered soon, I’m trying to plan ahead. First of all, I’ll be doing mostly all of my own wrenching on the bike, but in those cases that I need to take it somewhere (for whatever reason), does it have to be a factory authorised dealer?
Reason I ask is that there is a fairly new shop just around the corner from me that seems to be very qualified and they say that any work they perform will not void any factory warrantee.
It’s so close, I could drop the bike off and walk home within 30 minutes.
Please take a look...... ::: Ram Cycles Maintenance :::
Home page: ::: Welcome to Ram Cycles.net :::
I hear all the horror stories of having to drive 2 hours just to get to the dealer. It takes me 10 minutes to drive to Ram Cycles.

On another note..... I see many threads like..."Bike left me stranded again" or "Bike broke down 1 hour from home". I do lots of solo riding and just can't afford to have this happen. I do realize that problems will occur, that's just part of owning a bike, but does it happen to us more than most?
Is there any 2008 Ridgeback owners out there that can say their bike has been nothing but a pleasure to own since the day you bought it, with no major breakdowns or failures, provided you keep up with regular maintenance???
Thanks in advance......... Greg

To get warranty work done and to be rembursed for parts and labor, it must come from BD and I seriously doubt they would do anything for some other shop thats not authorized by BD. You could take it anywhere you want to get work done but your going to pay if not BD authorized. Thats like taking a Dodge to a Chevy dealer for warranty work. Just my 2cts

This is the only recall and or potential problem that I could find on the 2008 Ridgeback.......

Build Years/Makes/Models: 2008 BIG DOG MASTIFF
2008 BIG DOG RIDGEBACK
2008 BIG DOG K-9
UNits affected: 104
Recall Number: 07V460000
Summary: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL LINE CAN POTENTIALLY CONTACT HEATED METAL PARTS OF THE MOTORCYCLE AND MELT.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD OCCUR WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING AND COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS REPLACED THE FUEL LINE WITH ONE THAT HAS HIGHER THERMAL RESISTANCE PROPERTIES. ALSO NEW FUEL LINES WERE REROUTED TO FURTHER REDUCE EXPOSURE TO HEATED METAL. ALL MOTORCYCLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. NO OWNER NOTIFICATION WILL BE NECESSARY.
Notes: CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Nothing that some nice high temp braided fuel line wouldn't fix.....
DOH.....after re-reading, I stand corrected..... "ALL MOTORCYCLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. NO OWNER NOTIFICATION WILL BE NECESSARY."
Yes.... I am an idiot.....lol :bang:

I would also say that the shop you want to use, if not a authorized service center, would not be able to buy parts from Big Dog. You or they would have to buy from a authorized souce like Nelson for the parts and supply them to the shop you want to use.:hi:
