I've just joined the site after checking it out for a relatively short while so I don't know how many dealers are here but any of them that would like to fight for my business can feel free. I'm looking to buy a new Wolf before the end of the month and although there is one local that I like I'm hoping to find the best deal I can. I know there are several at the factory I could chose from that could be California equipped quickly and easily and shipped out in no time but what I'm needing is someone to give me a big enough discount that will make it easy to do. Shoot me a PM and let me know if you can do anything for me.

Thanks

Don't forget to check with the new BD "owned" store they just opened up down in LA. No middle man to pay!

marco, just remember liquidity determines value...if you're the only swingin dick that's been in the store in the last week with the ability (or credit) to stroke a check a deal can be had.

That being said, I'd scope ebay and see if you can find a used one with some goodies already on it. Now that you're a member here we all help each other out to look at bikes, so if you find one in Ohio you could shot out to all the guys there and see if someone is close enough to go take a look at it quick for ya....good luck, and welcome to the POUND!

I have a call into my dealer, PM me your details and I'll see if the one here in CO wants to play ball with ya

Exactly. Unfortunately it was a lot easier to get some deals when I was considering other brands and models that hadn't changed and there was tons of slightly used ones to look at but the '09 Wolf is an entirely different animal (no pun intended). So far I've got one dealer willing to order me one and offer $4K off list and another dealer saying he can't see how he could go more then $2K off so yeah, I'm not looking for any deep discount but I plan on taking what I can at least. Thanks for the responses and help guys.

Guys remember he is in Kalifornia and the new rules there say you CAN"T buy a new bike out of state and bring it in and register it if it isn't CARB certified!!!
Many have found out the hard way.
A used bike has to have over 7500 miles to get registered after it's inspected to meet CARB rules.

Only in Kalifornia.

Well, there is another reason not to live in California.

Yeah basically I'm going to have to pay $750 for them to put a can filled with charcoal on the bike and then take it off and throw it away immediately after getting it home. It's not even an exhaust issue, it's tied in to the gas tank vent (if it's like every other California bike I've seen).

Marco, both of my Big Dogs were purchased in San Diego and the dealer (Coast Choppers) removed all that shit the day I took delivery.

The gas tank vents to the charcoal filter and the motor vents back onto the aircleaner and manifold to be self contained. After removing the canister the gas tank vent hose is routed under the seat and to the bottom of the tranny.

Seems a little over kill on a bike if you ask me but thats Kalifornia for you!!

Find a used one? You did see he wants a new Wolf, right?
Right, I did see that, I guess someone has to pay retail. I was ALSO thinking he could get around the CARB crap buying used...but Ray pointed out it needs 7500 miles which is a stretch for sure.

You got that right. It's funny you use the "K" because I was going to do that in my introduction post but didn't want to offend any of the real Kalifornians. That's cool that your dealer removed it for you. On my previous two bikes not only would they not do it for me but they wouldn't even hear me out on how I planned to do it to make sure I didn't screw it up.

Reason dealers/shops won't do it now is DOT can and will fine them huge (5K an instance). I think I heard a tale of a shop in SoCal that got fined 60-70K, cause they had 14 or 15 canisters in the trash can...

It only took me about 30 minutes to get rid of my canister, kept it just in case...

Marco Polo - How's the Wolf hunting?

Yeah, I think I'm going to keep my can after I take it off this time as well because I hear they're very expensive if for some reason you ever need to replace it.

As far as the Wolf hunt goes, I have one in my sites and tried to pull the trigger yesterday but the lender we're trying was closed for the weekend. We got turned down from our own credit union that we had my car and previous motorcycle through even though there was never any late payments or anything. They all seem to have really tightened down since everything crashed and I'm starting to get worried that even though we can afford it we may not be able to find a loan for it. There was about 4 or 5 banks that we were going to check and discovered they recently quit doing motorcycle loans now.

I talked to Kelly at Big Dog of Orange County as some people recommended and he seemed like a really sincere and friendly person but he couldn't really do anything more then the independent dealers on price and the one he has that I really would want has a level 6 or something paint job so they're asking $41K before a small discount and it's been used as a demo model.

I went up to Sac and talked to Gino yesterday though and that whole family is really nice and helpful and maybe it's just him or maybe I made it overly clear I wouldn't have it but there was ZERO BS which I really appreciated. I told him what I wanted price wise and he pretty much met me there minus $300 I think it was. The one he has in stock is gorgeous (my ideal color) and hopefully I'll own it when they open back up on Tuesday. Keep wishing me luck and here's a picture of the goal.
