Voltage regulator bent

Hi BD brothers and sisters. Looks like the VR was hit with a curb or something and bent it. Does this mean it’s damaged? Could this be why my battery is dying?

Logically speaking, power is produced in the stator, then goes to the VR for distribution to the battery to recharge what was used to start the engine and to run the systems. If the VR is shorted, there is a problem. At least that's how my little brain thinks it works.

Thank you. I just ordered a new VR. Hopefully that’s the issue

Yea I put a new Cycle Electric Voltage regulator on my Mastiff. Then I checked the charging system. Still wasn't charging. Only put out 12.5 volts at 2000erpm's. Took the primary cover off to find the nut that holds the stator on was finger loose and the teeth on the stator was gone. Replaced that also and now all is good. 14.5 Volts at 2000 RPM's.

Great bro. I’ll check to see if it gets to 14.5

I thought I saw somewhere that you had already checked you stator????
Mechanic said stator was good. But I don’t think he really checked because I was looking around and found the VR loose and hanging from one screw. It must of been like that since when they damaged it

Like "GasMan" used to say, "why pay somebody else to fuck up your shit when you can do it yourself for free", or something like that. Don't think I would be visiting your mechanic anymore.
Nailed it woodbutcher! Ha, I made a funny. :oldlaugh:
