Vintage Dogs with a TP rocker cover ??

I have a 2000 Bulldog with 4 bolt rocker covers.... (and it was built that way, build#2148) .... S&S heads and intake manifold, Super G carb (marked 336 and 378), 107ci, S&S casing marked with SA and BSA, Andrews 5 speed transmission but marked BIGDOG TB01277, and a RIVERA/PRIMO clutch. I understand that by the VIN you can tell some other things ..... 1B91GBH14YW374149 ... any help.?
I just bought this bike a month ago and I am 'getting to know it' ..... changing fluids, etc., so does anyone have some additional knowledge concerning my build.? I am familiar with the TP rocker box issue... but only on the 05/06 models .... ? I also have a ThunderHeart ignition and foot pegs/supports, Performance Machine brakes, Integrity Machine wheels (but also marked BIGDOG) and running a 180/55-18 in the back and a 90/90-21 on the front. I have Deutsch wiring connectors and a taillight that keeps falling off :)
My first concern are the 4 bolt rocker covers (12,xxx total miles), then losing the tappet catch screen... Next is the oil cap. It will only go in to the second rib, not all the way... . is this normal.? and, should I have any other concerns..?
Thanking you in advance. :)

I wouldn't drain the crankcase no need just like 2-3 oz of oil you get from it. You can run the EVO without the filter to drain the oil from the sump it's easier and safer. Just put oil back in the oil tank and you can run the bike till the oil is clean and clear. Then just top off tank.

Can you take a pic of the heads? Back in 2000, someone might chime in but I thought those were edlebrock heads and not TP?

I agree with Eric. You're motor was assembled by S&S for Big Dog. It has the old style S&S rocker boxes on it that have four bolts in them. I think they also came with the 600 cam in them. If it stretches you're arms out it is running good.

I think you're oil tank cap is simply the wrong size. It just looks too big. There is no real reason to screw with the crank case drain. You could just be opening another can of worms. You need to check on the tappet screen issue. I dont think the oil pressure taps into that plug. Also check to see if the Thunderheart ignition is still being used. Mine has been up dated but the old Thunderheart unit was left in place. Good luck and ride safe.

Sorry I don't have any stupid little characters to put on here.

When you type your reply in the reply box, just to the top is a tool bar and if you click on the little round one referred to as a smiley, it will open up another tool bar under the reply and you can pick on the different tabs and choose any of them.
Now the dancing Santa is a little harder and I can explain that also if you like, but it is a nice touch for the holidays:oldsmile::old2:

... How will I know if my ignition has been upgraded..? The cover says "BIGDOG" but the billet housing connection says Thunderheart ..?
Also; when I will add fresh oil after my oil change... 3 1/2 quarts will be 'full' .. right.? So I should then 'trim' my oil cap down to where it is flush .. being careful to watch how much oil shows on the stick...
