I made mine, it’s welded to the frame. I didn’t like the stock, it stuck too far, even when flipped vertically. I have it tucked up tight as possible, ~1/8” from the rotor.

I understand most will not want to weld, so you can buy simple one like this for example that will get sandwiched on the rear wheel axle. You would have to subtract the thickness from the spacer.

Being that his is an 09, it might not be flippable.
If your plate bracket is one piece on the back, get with Eric at HDM.

I've got a K-9 and like the fact that it's horizontal -- makes a great backup kickstand when bolt or kickstand fails -- ask me how I know!

I just read you thread on the horizontal license plate, I don't even need to ask. LOL

Not sure if it's still an offense in Florida, but I know vertical plates/plate mounting several years ago = traffic ticket.

Thanks for the advice on the vertical license plate, very helpful. This forum ROCKS. I have the chrome plate license holder (2009) and wasn't able to switch to vertical. I reached out to Eric at HDM and he set me up with the correct license holder. Here's the progress so far from my top to to bottom rebuild. So close to having everything complete. I will post a complete picture once finished.
