Just got the stockers off the new PitBull and put on the V&H Big Radius on Thurs nite. Does the carb HAVE to be re-jetted? Im guessing probably. Its more a question of my own curiosity. Ive had race cars (410 sprinters, micros and drag cars) in my family all of my life but the bikes are new to me. I can build a Big Block Pontiac in my sleep but getting to know the nuances of an S&S 117 will take some time and time to read & study (neither of which do I possess nor do I foresee acquiring in the near future:D ) and, is the kit on Big Dogs site the absolute best to use? Part # 103-000032-00. Thanks!

I'm at sea level and run a 31/78 combo with Big Radius setup. Nothing more than K&N filter and louvered face plate on stock breather is what I have. I have no decel pop and no flat spots. Works great for me.

I had to install new jets for my 2007 K-9 - I found this on Big Dog Motorcycles
"This recommended jet kit will provide optimum performance out of your S&S G carburetor when installed with our Big Radius exhaust system. Kit includes .076 main jet and .031 intermediate jet. [Part No. 103-000032-00]"

She seems to run great but when she heats up, at a stop or if I throttle to down shift, she loads up and on occasion will spit and pop and shut off...not sure which way to go with the air/fuel...

For what it's worth... Another '07 K9 with BR, louvered plate, K&N and Power Pacc. Environment: normal 30 degree change in temps in the course of 24 hours, elevation sea level to ~1000 feet in local riding area.

BDM kit with 31 & 76 was a bit rich for conservative highway cruising, as in riding 36 miles to work. Had slight hesitation in the 2700 range. Decreased accel pump 1/4 turn at a time until most of the hesitation went away, but ended up installing a 74 main jet. First ride to work, coming home later than usual, was able to run at ~75 for about a 15 mile stretch (not normal due to traffic, etc.). The pipes lightened up to a nice dark brown.

Got rid of the decal popping by adjusting idle mixture a bit richer, again 1/4 turn at a time between rides.

Clocked 42 miles/gallon... (tank is still too small for Alaska riding, will have to do something about that).

May not be the fastest 'Dog, but it's smooth and I'm still able to make unpleasant things fade in the mirrors!

Yeah, I know. I printed the damn thing out, pics and all. Huge thanks to you on that one! I used it like a bible when I changed the jets. The carb just needs that tweak one direction or another and Im not sure which way to go...I still have a bit of learning to do with the carb adjusting...

Check the how to.. there is a thread on adjusting your carb and jetting.

Slow Vince... for my area...I tend to believe the 76 is more for people that have upgraded their cam to a 600 at least. Otherwise it seems to load up when on the main jet in the lower end of its rpm range.

Diesel... glad it has helped.

Right on, that sounds exactly what I was experiencing with the 76 and the stock '07 "EPA" 547 cam... I'm kind of in a sweet spot, so I'm just enjoying the ride!
