Um....what is going on here

Energy One
Hi guys and gals, just got my first chopper, never ridden one before , an 08' K9 and holy moly is it fun ....200 miles later straight out the dealer it started Wiggin out hard!, Randomly dying , blinkers having a mind of there own, go to start it and starter won't dis-engage , hammered it a little bit and got starter to dis-engage. Then yesterday I turn the key on and it immediately tries to start?!?!.....sposed to push the button for that to occur right?! Haha.... And now when I turn the key it doesn't try to start but the horn just blares the whole time the key is on. I know this issue is played out between batt. VR. Ehc , buttons yadda yadda just thought some fresh advice could prove useful, I believe mine is fused as there is one big one under my seat. Also, what does EHC stand for?
Has anyone had any experience with this " rip kit" or " slam button" .......very upset friends. Walked into the dealer for fun thinking I'd never get approved.... Left with my dream bike and poof 200 miles later ....shattered dreams. Thanks in advance , happy to be here. ---Jeremy

Welcome to the forum. '07 K9 owner here and I would start with the battery. I've experienced gremlins similar to you and more times it was the battery.

Make sure you have good tight secure connections. Remove pin connectors at the EHC and fill with die-Lectric grease to protect contacts.

I've been having my bike for 12 years and not a hard rider, but the original wiring is still on my bike today. Start with simple things first.

Welcome from NJ,
When the symptom's are all over the place loose battery connections will do it for sure. 200 miles just long enough to vibrate loose the connections. CurtK has good advice for the EHC (post 4) This file may help you, if not now sometime in the future.

Thanks for the response, just got home check all batt connections, all were tight, tiny bit of corrosion on the negetive, so took everything off and sanded the deal there. Put back together tight. Same deal the second I turn the key on the horn blares, got a fresh 9 volt for the multimeter, batts reading 13.11. still lost, fury. Motorcycle has a RIP kit on order for me free of charge and they're going to install it but it's lookin like I'll be lucky to be rippin by next weekend. Is there a way to just disconnect the horn? Cant find the damn thing, I feel like it would work for at least this weekend if I could disconnect it. Ideas? Thanks buds

That's what I was hoping just tested batt. Sitting at 13.11 connections are tight, seen a little fuzzy white/blue jargain so unhooked and sanded that malarky off, after reading about corrosion issues I thought for sure that oughtta do it ..but nope....horn still wailin' the second I turn the key on. At least it's not trying to start by itself tho now. Waiting for my rip kit to get here from witchita then the dealers gonna install it but I don't think that's gonna be for at least a week or so. How do I kill the horn? Thanks bud

Help!! Anyone have any idea why all the sudden I would have a high idle until you give it load and then an idle so low it wants to die?!?! This thing just keeps getting weirder and weirder. It's fuel injected with big radius 2 into 1, stock air cleaner....never ran like this when I got it .Also seems like there's some air farts coming out of the air cleaner. Doesnt like steady throttle now either, wants to be accelerating or decel. Only otherwise chugs and wigs out. Just want it good... Christ.....lol

Welcome from North Central Mass. 1st. nice looking sled you have, 2nd the battery idea is always a good start. 3rd you may want to look at the hand controls as they could be a little corroded and causing these issues as some of the issues you mentioned go through the hand controls. When your new rip kit goes in they should be taking of your tank to run the new wirinng and maybe you have a short there. When I took off my tank this past winter, I noticed some chaffing was going on and I did some minor repairs then. Keep in touch on what the progress is for you.
