Hey Carlos, thanks for the tip. The pawl does spring back to centre without the shifter. Took the shifter apart, cleaned and lubricated bearings, It was badly gummed up. Did both heim joints.Disconnect your shift linkage and move the shifting pawl back and forth as ibn shifting to see if it springs back to center. If it does not then you may have a broken spring, however if it does spring back to center after each shift I would recommend replacing or lubricating you heim joints one on each end of the shift rod. :2thumbs:

I had all kinds a problems with getting them Ultimas to shift till i figered out the tricks and haint had no further problems cents, the reason you got to center things to shift is when they copied howevers shift drum they were off in the way the made the pawl I fixed mine by increasing the distance in the center of the pawl with a grinder you can center the pawl adjustment till the cows come in but it wont never work rite.If you take the top cover off and watch the pawl shift you will see what Im talking about cause it dont lay in the rods on the drum like its supposed two. when it ratchets.
OK; thanksThe spring haint your problem but youll see what Im talking about when you tare it apart
