Uhaul rental

Has anyone rented the 6 x 12 enclosed trailer from Uhaul to haul their bike with? It has 4 tie downs, one in each corner mounted to the wall not the floor, and they look kinda small. The guy at Uhaul says they should be strong enough, but I would like to know for sure. I did a search, and it looks like the open 5 x 9 may be the way to go. The tie downs do look stronger.

I know of someone who drilled four holes onto the floor and put I bolts for securing his bike. Afterwards he installed 4 bolts with nuts and returned the trailer. Worked for him..just saying.

I have used the 5x9 Open trailer to move my Husky and the girls Sportster. It worked fine, but I don't know that I would have used it for a long trip the way I have them strapped down.

I rented a uhaul 6x12 tandem axle enclosed trailer when i picked my bike up. I have a home made wheel chock which I strapped the bike to. Then I did some additional straps to the rings to keep the bike from moving around inside the trailer. If my memory serves me well there are two little rings in the front corners of the trailer.

An open trailer will work too I just didn't want anything flying up and hitting the bike.

I also used this to bring the Harley across the county in the back of 17' Penske Truck.

I hauled my pitbull from Baltimore to Ohio in the 6 x 12 when I bought it. The tie downs worked fine. :2thumbs:

I've used there 6x12 ramp trailer, worked real good, It's a real heavy trailer you know its back there ! dumps your fuel mileage, but its an open trailer so weather is a factor, good luck

Have used the open trailer. Now this isn't their "MC trailer" but you can see it worked great!

I used the 6x12 also when I picked up my 05 chopper. Worked perfect with zero problems. I made sure it had good eye bolts in it before I left though. Drilling a few holes in the trailer won't hurt any,

A little off the subject but I put mine in the back of the truck....Blocked it up under the frame and pulled it down. Rode like a dream. went to Kansas from Tennessee like this. I have a aluminum ramp that is wide as the truck so you can put your feet down when you hit the brakes...

I also have a 6-1/2 ft bed truck. What was the length of your ramp? I was looking at a 40" wide aluminum one that comes in either 10' or 12' long. I was worried about the bike frame bottoming out when loading and unloading.

Smart taking the weight off the rear wheel like that bein it's on your tailgate. It doesn't look like you have room to take the ramp along.

I used both 5x9 and the 6x12 they both got the job done and the 5x9 worked with the wolf.

Nomad,love the blocking idea,I can actually see a little more space on my truck between the bed and the gate(in the middle),I've got the folding 3pc.ramp that I can stand on it's side and strap it in tween the bike and side of the truck,I ride the bike up and at the very top I stand so the bike don't bottom out

The ramp was in the truck. It is a aluminum 3 piece ramp that comes apart. A black widow it is called and it is 8 foot long when extended. It folds in half and the three piece or separate ramps bolt together. I could of put it in the back as well... I can stop at the top and put my feetdown and then pull it in the rest of the way. it is a nice ramp. I will take a picture Sunday when I am off again.
My Bulldog is 8 1/2 foot long so it is shorter than the K-9 for sure...
