I was going to order a jet from that zippers place in the link but not only to they make you call and talk to a less than enthusiastic rep but the jet was on back order for weeks. So I called Bob @ XXX and he's getting some out to me right away. Always eager to sit on the phone and help, a great guy. I'm calling Bob 1st from now on.

Put the 34 in yesterday and bumped the main from a 72 to 74. Much smoother now. Not quite perfect yet. Think I'm gonna throw in the 35 and see how she goes. I'm on the right track though.

Had some popping after the change today from the main so I'm going back to the 72. Still feeling out the intermediate.

Notice a lot of attention being focused on the int and main jets, what most of us miss is the "air bleed". Without getting into a thesis, most of us use "high flow" air filters and the transition from int to main (around 2500RPM)can get tricky causing some of the issues described in this thread – stumble and lean/rich mixtures). In fact, an extreme airflow condition (velocity stack) may cause a vacuum that could draw fuel in from the carb’s bowl vent and cause unexpected results (rich condition). Boring out the carb’s throat (part of the XXX mods) definitely helps smoothen out the air/fuel surge. Leaving the int around 32-33 and the main around 78-82, I strongly recommend moving up the air bleed to around 68-72 (and above if you are using a Thunder Jet). The air bleed jet controls when the main jet kicks in and the rate of fuel. Give it a try, you will be glad you did. (PS. Depending on the filter, opening the bowl vent may be an option)

My air bleed is a 66 per the XXX mod and is showing no indication of needing adjustment, as it serves the purpose of easing the transition from intermediate to main to which there have been no unfavorable symptoms.

Any progress?

Any "new" scoop on your intermediate jet situation? Sounds like you gained some ground with the 34...?

Best of luck---
