Hey Gang
My 05 Ridgeback (money pit) tranny has a crack in the case , what are my options of finding a case, rebuilt or a brand new drop in unit. My cast clutch carrier is shot as well, not to happy with the Baker stuff so far.
Thanks for the help

Let's see some pics!

I have never heard of a transmission case cracking while in the bike and riding. I've heard people have cracked the case trying to press in new bearings however.

You can call Baker and see if they have a spare case laying around, last I heard they were about $600-800 a pop that was many moons ago though. Wouldn't be surprised if the price has increased since then.

Regarding the clutch carrier, Derrick and Donna have the revised baker carrier on Fleabay for about $200 that's a great price compared to directly from Baker.

Yep , pressing the counter shaft bearing cracked it, almost looked like it had red locitite on part of it.
Spoke with Jeff at Baker today and they had nothing used or new available to drop in.

you might try Andrew at Barnes Performance Cycles. He rebuilds transmissions and may have a case around. Good luck.

Used a shop press?

There's a special tool for pressing in bearings in the Harley transmissions to help prevent the cases from cracking. Shop presses are a little too aggressive.

If Your bike is a right side drive, I have a complete tranny is good working condition with 2250 miles or less. I installed one that I had rebuilt by Andrew Barns. There is nothing wrong with the one I have, I just wanted one with the Harden shaft so I had the spare one rebuilt and installed it about a year ago. I'll even throw in an extra shaft . If you are interested I me know. $1500.00 including Ground shipping.
