Are you buying a new trans the last two times or having one rebuilt?

If it's the same trans being rebuilt the builder is missing something.

I would buy a new one and sell your old one and be done with it

Well you are one of the only ones who jumped on without an Intro.

Can you give us more details on the issues that lead up to this damage and whatnot?

Considering threads about failed transmissions are few and far between on this site I'm thinking there's a lot more to this story than we've being told so far!

Sorry guys ...... Big Dog Replaced the first one and the second was rebuilt at the dealer, It started with a small vibration and buy the time I got it home was so severe that I limped home in 2nd gear.... It would jump out of third under power like hitting N..... I have not had the time to dump and inspect the trans fluid yet but on my list to do... good start point i guess. I dont know if I bent a shift fork or if thats even possibe, What do you think? On top of the many visits at the DOG Vet (Dealer) the bearings in trans had to be replaced as-well. Oh and as-far as the Into comment Im not sure what you mean... Thanks Guys

When my transmission failed, it stuck in third gear. Countershaft had moved is what I was told. Bigdog replaced it and I've had no problem since. That was at 7000 miles. I now have over 11,000 miles and no problems so far. I would contact Baker and see what they say.

At one time there were a few that were breaking main shafts in the transmissions. They were mainly on 06 models.

It would be good to know what was done to your trans the first and second times and did BDM send you back the same one the first time? You probably can't find out now but depending on how many miles you have put on since the rebuild at your dealer I would think the dealer would have given some kind of warranty on their work.
How many miles has all this happened in?

As I mentioned above if it's the same trans I would buy another off Ebay and sell yours after three tries they are missing something

Go online at Baker's website. They have exploded views. Take the tranny apart and figure out what's wrong with it. They are pretty easy and cheap to fix just alot of parts in there! Once you know exactly what's wrong with it, call Baker and tell them. They may actually just send you the parts for free.

Im hoping someone can tell me that there wrong on this... I took the tranny out and left it at the dealer and there telling me that all the bearings are bad and the countershaft is junk. I run a 4" Karata belt drive and they say this is the problem. I see there are plenty of belt drives on bikes here has anyone had problems like this? I just replaced the Bearings last summer and dont have 600 miles on them. Im lost with this but know im tired of 1000.00 hear and 1000.00 there...

I would call Baker yourself.

Explain the situation...they sell belt drives so they all can't be bad for reliability.

Ask them if you can send the trans to them and let them look at it.

My personal experience is that they have been real good people to work with. We had some growing pains with their King Kong Klutch. They were there to lend support and parts.

I am working on a prototype part for them now on the KKK.

Hope you get it working.

If you are wearing out bearing then it's got to be the belt drive. If it wasn't engineered with it, it can cause problems. Does baker offer a 4 inch belt drive? Wjat are the differences?
