Touch-up Paint

I just received some touch-up paint from Vickie and it came with three bottles, the paint, hardner and clear.

Anybody have any tips or tricks when using this stuff??

What I'm wondering is if the hardner goes on right away with the paint or does a guy wait in between each of the three steps? Also what kind of time should a guy be waiting in between the steps?

I've got a extremely tiny chip on the bottom of my tank, that no one knows is there except for me and it bugs the shit out of me.

i am suprised there were no instructions with the paint or printed on the bottles. i will try to help...basicly the hardner is for the clear. on a clean piece of glass or similar.....clean it with alcohol....put a dab of paint down,and mix ita bit to be sure all the pigment is distributed, then dab on the spot to be repaired. get it as level as you can....level meaning even with the surrounding surface. let it dry good, overnight if you can. if the spot is a bit higher than the surrounding area, use some 1500 or 2000 wet dry 3m paper, with water to smooth it out. dont be agrressive here, just enough to get it smooth with the surrounding area. dont overlap the surrounding area to much, try to stay close to the spot. clean the area you just sanded really good and apply the clear,with a bit of the hardner mixed in........check with supplier, as the hardner may be for both the paint and clear.....use the clear over the area you just sanded....light coats are best, with drying time inbetween. let this dry overnight. if there is a build up, use the same 1500/2000 paper to sand it smooth, then use a good polishing compound over the area you just repaired....should look good as new!!

Be carefull. My hardner hardened in the bottle after just a few weeks. Even though I swear I closed it tight tight tight.

They basically send you three generic plastic bottles that someone wrote the project number of the bike on and labeled each bottle as to what they are and that was it. No instructions what so ever. I know it's not rocket science but I don't want to fuck anything up.

Well I called BD direct and they told me the following.

Make sure it's at least 70 degrees before using the touch up paint.

Use the paint on your scratch or chip and let dry for a minimum of 4 hrs. Best if left overnight.

Then take 4 parts clear and mix it with 1 part hardener and put a light coat over the paint and let dry overnight and your done.
