Tire questions

I’ve been reading about all the different tire setups and size differences - sometimes 1 brand 250 is wider than another brands 250 and so on.
My 05 Bulldog has Avon AV72 (250) and 71 COBRA tires and it looks like they have been superceded with COBRA CHROME series. I’ve thought about trying a Michelin or Dunlop - but not sure if I should drop down to a 240 width on those - I HATE the ones I have aren’t available and DO NOT WANT any fitment issues - the new Avon CHROME series looks like a slick to me ! Not in a hurry but planning on replacing them over the winter sometime - looks like some of you like the Shinko Tire’s too - thought I’d get your opinion !!! THANKS

Dunlop, Metz and Avon are the only 250s. Shinko does not make a 250. The new Avon (I am running now) has great grip and they took the edge off the tire to give a little more room. Folks seem to like the Dunlop but me personally, I don't care for them. Everybody has a tire preference. The Mich commander III are supposed to be really good but you have to go to a 240. Your speedo will be off, but the width is not too noticeable but you will see the gap in the fender if you look.

I run a 240 Shinko on my Bagger, I like the profile better and the less than half an inch width difference isn't even noticeable. As far as the speedo being off, an 8mm difference in height only make about a 1% difference which you will never even notice...who looks at the speedo anyway? that being said, everyone has a preference mine just happens to be Shinko, been running them for years on all my bikes and never had even one problem with them, they wear good, ride great and stick to the road even when wet. Just my experience :chopper:

The new Triumph Rocket 3 comes new with Cobra Chromes so I would not be to worried about that tire. I put a new Cobra chrome on the front of my K9 and the center of the tire does look slick but it seems to stick to the road just fine. I have a new rear tire just waiting for me to put it on.
